Yeah but what’s the buyout clause in this new contract?!

Sad that was my 2nd thought too. There will be strings attached

Either way it’s a win. At least we get a fee if he goes now. I would still rather he stayed though.
If he did go he'd still get pelters from people who would seem to prefer our players leave on a free.  For his sake I just hope he doesn't say anything about liking the club or he'll be hated forever.

Hurrah! One half of the best-looking football couple in the world commits to his villa on er, Love Island. Seriously, you should watch the Mr & Mrs segment that he and Alisha Lehmann did for Pravda recently. It would restore your faith in love across boundaries.

There was also some nice footage during the summer of them going back to his home place of Nova Holanda (which isn't the greatest area) and bringing supplies to the local residents.

Too late! He said in a very brief interview on Pravda to mark the contract-signing that he "loves Aston Villa". Smooth bastard.

The feeling that he was just going to walk out of the door in the summer was adding to the general feeling that the whole 'project' was sliding down the pan, so for that alone it's welcome, but anyway I think he's our most talented actual central midfielder with his best years ahead of him, and played in a properly functioning team he'll be quality.

The fact the likes of Arsenal and supposedly Liverpool were after him tells you that his ceiling is perhaps considered higher than what we've been able to see so far.

I've always looked upon Luiz as the sort of player we would miss when he's gone.  With that in mind, I'm glad he's staying.

I'm not wrong though.  If he goes to Arsenal for a £15m buyout clause in the summer there will be snakes everywhere.

Fabian Delph is still a cúnt, and there is no defence for the way he behaved. Nobody criticised him for leaving, it was the manner of his departure. But please feel free to continue that debate on the Delph thread or the former players one rather than trying to turn one of the few bits of good news we've had into a rehash of an argument you've already lost.

I agree.  He's our best No 8.  Second best No 6 and would be very comfortable in a double pivot.

I hope he now gets to play instead of McGinn next to Kamara and JJ when fit. He moves the play along nicely and is way better on the ball. This is very good news.
