Konsa last night was the most progressive I’ve ever seen him ever
3/4 marauding runs forward, playing the ball a lot quicker and looking to move forward rather than backwards maybe he thought if Torres can do it I’ll have a go
He also got some crucial blocks in, in fairness he’s always been good at that

I’ve never been his biggest fan mainly because his technical ability isn’t great but last night was one of his best games

Agreed, I thought he was outstanding last night, best game in a long time if not the best.

He defended extremely well, but like said above his passing and the intent to go forwards was impressive. Who knew the fella can dribble like that!

I’m not sure how or why but in the past it’s felt like defending was beneath him, however over the last few weeks he’s had the usual Rolls Royce calmness whilst also activating a 4x4 mode that had previously been missing.

I remember seeing one of his surging runs from deep and then a striker esque finish against Brentford in America a few summers back.

It's a part of his game we could utilise more.

How do you set up to contain a CB running from deep.

In fairness, he was so physically superior to his markers that he could easily squeeze past them without worrying overly about being challenged. Not sure that would work so well in the PL.

This is why he’s annoying. He’s got all the bits needed to be the best but he’s happier as the support act.  Can he pass? Yes. But he’d prefer to ship the ball sideways to Mings, an inferior but braver footballer, to take the risky pass.

He seems to have moved ahead of Martinez in captain list, was made captain on Sunday when McGinn went off. Not sure about yesterday forgot to check.

Absolutely how I see it …although in the last 18months he does seem to be more offensive.

My further evidence is whichever partnership is chosen, the other player - MIngs or Pau - assumes the ‘leader of the line’ position orchestrating offside traps etc.

It’s probably time Emery formally told Konsa he is the leader as I don’t doubt he has the ability. He just may need a nudge to realise he is that man.
