Mings: likely out for season
Buendia: likely out for season
Torres: out for 2 months and counting
Konsa: out for a month it appears
Tielemans: has been out for over a month
Digne: has been out for a month and counting
Moreno: was out for 3+ months
Ramsey: was out for 4 months
Duran: seemingly out for 2 months

But…but…Spurs

While he probably wouldn't have played much, Hause is at 15 months. But he is our player so was probably expected to miss 1 game originally.

Torres is back in training according to UE. We have had some bad luck this season with injuries.

Hasn’t Torres been close to a return for about a month and he never even makes the bench.

Whatever it is, it’s fucking miserable. How Emery has managed to get this group to 4th plus the cup runs is beyond remarkable.

Difference is our injuries are all first teamers, half of theirs were squad players

The 25 man squad is updated after transfer window, guess sometime this week…Traore & Dendonker have gone from the original squad….Gauci will replace one, not sure if Roger’s qualifies as u21 or has to be part of 25.

Not that I’d expect to see Hause in there

We only named 23 players originally:

Aston Villa 25-man squad: Martinez*, Olsen, Cash*, Carlos, Konsa*, Mings*, Lenglet, Digne, Torres, Moreno, Chambers*, Luiz, Kamara, McGinn, Tielemans, Traore, Buendia, Diaby, Zaniolo, Bailey, Dendoncker, Ramsey*, Watkins*.

*Home Grown players

Duran, Iroegbunam, Kesler-Hayden, Kellyman and the other youth players don't count towards the 25.

So with Traore and Dendoncker replaced by Gauci and Rogers; we'd still have Hause room.

I presume Chambers will get a game or two, then.

I don't think we have a ridiculous amount of games over the next few weeks, so should be able to cope if Torres returns soon.  I think that Konsa's pace was vital to our high line though and we'll miss that.  I wonder if he'll ask Cash to play deeper than normal as some cover.  Possibly Kamara too.

The squad is creaking now though.  1 fit right-back & leftback, two fit centrebacks and 1 fit striker (I'm excluding Chambers and KKH).  Any more injuries in these positions and there's a significant drop off in quality / compromise in tactics.

Despite the bukkakefest over Guardiola, Klopp or Arteta who the media feels worthy of it at seasons end, there will only be one real manager of the year.  To have us where we are at the moment with an injury list that would see the end of the NHS is beyond miraculous.  Step forward Unai Emery.
