I mean considering one particular new teammate of his it's fucking overdue, but well done to him, thoroughly deserves it.

[Another Dean Smith signing called up for England to go with Mings and Watkins. Deano obviously had an eye for talent and that talent has been fully realised under Emery

I know it's not for England but I think it's fair to add Cash (who was obviously eligible for England) to that list as well.

Overdue and deserved
Don't expect the same level of coaching though at England Ezri.

Very much deserved.  His performances this season have gone to another level.  He's always been superb at recovery tackles and blocks, but he's now showing great confidence on the ball too.  Infact, in the first half against AZ I thought he showed just how skilful on the ball he can be.

I've often wondered what the players make of the England set-up and how good/bad/mediocre the training and tactical side is. I mean, having won fuck-all for 57 years, it can't be that good, eh?*

When you have Emery drilling you for hours then you're out there with Tea Biscuit and a couple of cones, it must be disconcerting.

*Only joshing.

You didn't need the only joshing. Players from teams who have won multiple titles / European matches regularly do not turn up for England. Some of that has to be down to team-mates and some down to the coaching from the manager in charge who decides to not allow the player the same style of play they get at the club side. Recent examples are trying to fit Scholes on the left wing, trying to force both Gerrard and Lampard into midfield, and trying Phillips in midfield instead of on the bench.

Does this/his potential capping trigger a further payment to our feeder club, Brentford FC ?

I don't know eamonn but I do know that the potential capping means we will be just one behind Tottingham in most players from one club representing England.

Being England manager isn't about improving players - in the way Emery has done over the last 12 months.

It's about organising the talents you have into an effective team - which to be fair Southgate has done better than any manager since Sven - but more importantly it's about getting more out of a squad than the sum of its parts - so you beat teams, that on paper, are as good or better than you. This is where Southgate is woeful. Robson and Venables came close - understandable with their football ethos and personality. And in the game today I'd put Emery close to the top of that list of managers that would do that.

Better play him now in case Portugal make a swoop for him.
