Konsa might be playing the progressive type of football required to win tournaments but unfortunately Southgate isn't.

Good point, well made.

I wish he’d just declare for Portugal. Fucking England and Southgate don’t deserve him. One of the best talents of his position in the country the likes of Dunk, Colwill, Guehi get in instead. Let alone Maguire. I’m not being dismissive of the first three individually as they’ve all played for their clubs consistently and well, but Konsa has done it for as long if not longer at a very high level, and taken a big step up with Mings gone. He’s playing just superbly right now.

Dunk is a very good defender, but at 31 I don't see the point in blooding him at International level when there are equally good centre-halves with a decade to go in their International careers.  I could understand it if he was demonstrably head and shoulders above the others, but he isn't.

I think Guehi and Colwill look to be genuine top class centre-half prospects, and that's probably who Ezri is competing against in the 'next generation'.  The Euros will be Walker's last tournament.  Stones and Maguire will be 32 and 33 respectively at the next World Cup, so I'd be amazed if they were still regular first teamers at their current clubs by then.  I would say this "normally" means they'd lose their International place, but Henderson has kept his despite turning out for the equivalent of a Saudi pub team.

Ezri is probably going to need an injury or two ahead of him to get a chance with England, and then let's hope he grabs it with both hands.  Fighting for a top four place all season certainly won't hurt his chances.

He’s been top class with the additional responsibility. I thought a couple of years back he reminded a bit of Rio Ferdinand, he lost his way, but he’s now showing that ability again.

He has not *been pretty error prone of late and a most unusual goal.
It was a peculiar header by Konsa against Luton and denied us a clean sheet.
Not sure what was happening there. Took Emi Martinez and us all by surprise.

Error prone of late? You mean involved in a bizarre OG the other day. Not exactly the same thing.

Yeah error prone suggests more than 1 and I can't think of anything else he's done 'wrong'.

Later today Southgate has a Squad announcement for international Euro Qualifiers v Malta and North Macedonia.
Stones is injured and maybe others to be rested?
What chances Konsa for England call up with qualification already secured?

Does anyone know if the Portuguese have been assessing Konsa for a call up?

So John Stones injured and McGuire is still shit with 2 games that mean nothing and ideally to try out new players etc....still no Konsa

This clown remains an England starter and Ezri cannot get a spot in the squad. I give up
