Carragher was absolutely purring about him all game as well in the commentary so it will only be a matter of time that the media gets him a call up too.

And the media try to sell him to Man U 🙄

As mentioned by Black Francis on the Ramsey thread, he is one to tie down to the longest contract we can.  He has come a long way in 18 months and could be an important part of this team for another 8-10 years...

Yeah, I imagine a bumper deal will be proferred by the summer. Fully-deserved. The guy is a winner - he even hates  giving away corners!

As well as the usual stuff about selling him to Liverpool or Spurs, the papers today reckon he can play football for England, DR Congo, Angola and Portugal.

As Benjamin Zephaniah put it, he's part of the London breed.

Anybody know how long his contract is?

He signed for 5 years so it expires in the summer of 2023.

Wouldn't that be 2024 if he signed in 2019?

You’re right, it’s 4 years not 5. Contract expires June 2023.

Like yesterday! Judging by some stories today I imagine we are in mid negotiations

So the only way to make him stay is by paying him more money, is that the only ambition we can show him?

No, we could spend loads of money on adding some very good players, augment the coaching staff, be in the middle of plans for a shit hot training facilitiy and go from relegation fodder to pushing for Europe in a season. Like we are.

They can't spend any of that though. And the other thing about a new contract is we can put a nice hefty buy out clause in, so if somebody does come knocking we can take them to the cleaners. £100m should do it.
