If Konsa signs, do we think that’s the end of our interest in Axel?

Probably depends on the fitness of Chester as we'd have 4 CBs (Chester, Mings, Hause and Konsa). I'd have every confidence in Mings and Hause but question marks over Chester and Konsa (even though he looks tidy on the ball), so I'd rather we pursue Axel if he's still an option to bring in on loan.

I’ll have watched Brentford as many times as they’ll have been on the box, and I couldn’t say a thing about him except Dean must want him so he must be OK.

Rightly or wrongly, what it does suggest to me is that they don’t think Chester is likely to be up to this league any time soon (or ever). Which would be a great shame.

I suspect he's being signed as backup to Chester, rather than first choice. Don't write Chester off yet...

I think we are done for centre halves of this happens.  Mings this lad Chester and Hause.

As much as I like Chester and admire his willingness to play through the pain barrier at serious risk to his health, I would hope Konsa is being seen as an improvement.

I would hope that we still go after one more right sided CB who is fit like AT or Cahill.

Difficult to see us being able to carry five CBs unless Hause is going to be used solely as a LB next season so I'd say yes.

Unless Smith is considering playing three centre halves.

£12m, though.

Crikey. One season at Brentford and he's gone from £1m to £12m?

Disagree,  need 5 altogether to replace Elphick and Tuanzebe. Question mark over Chester with his knee problem.  Tuanzebe hopefully on loan and Cahill would do it.

£12m, though.

Inflated Premier League price through a massive increase in TV revenue. The PL is way different to 3 years ago.

The thing about Brentford is they tend to sign really quite good footballers more often than not. I would be happy to act as the club's intermediary given my proximity to the place. But they never call. They just don't call. It's sad.

It's a buy out clause - It would have been implemented at the time he signed for Brentford 12 months ago.
