Not necessarily, roll it on 12 months if he doesn't have a release clause. Give him a new deal like we did with Rogers and bake a release clause into it. Don't think Arsenal would be a good move for him either.

I'm not even sure about Ugo tbh, in terms of what we require for the way we play, he'd be more your Mings no-nonsense player. Same goes for Laursen, Teale. 

Southgate would have fitted in well.

There's definitely some claret-tinted specs with a lot of that list.

A player from 15 years ago would almost certainly struggle with the modern game never mind going back further. So trying to transport them into our current set up is pretty pointless, Konsa and modern players wouldn't survive 80s pitches and challenges either.

Players I think are in the same conversation as Konsa are Evans, McGrath, Southgate, Ugo, Laursen, Mountfield, Mellberg, Pau. And there's a few that before/after us would be there as well.

Daft old racist Teale is nowhere near the list.

We've been fortunate as a club that, barring the lost decade, we've always had a strong base. Goalkeepers and centre backs have tended to be good, often very good. Konsa isn't any better than some of those listed, but he belongs in their company.

I think 60m is fair market value, and I'd do it because SCR. With the squad being the age that it is, we can't really afford to be turning down big fees for players who are in and around 30. It's just kicking the can down the road when we're on a knife edge.

I absolutely think he's replaceable, as much as he's been great for us.

I think Ugo and Konsa are pure defenders, but there was a spell under Brian Little when Ugo was so dominant it was unreal, Konsa loses a few points for that fall on the ball to get a free kick routine he does 2/3 times a game.

Personally I think Pau and Kamara are the 2 that makes this Emery team tick, and having a spine with Martinez, Konsa & Watkins is a massive advantage, which I'm hoping are going to be here all this season at least.

I loved how Laursen attacked the ball in the air, especially from corners , but I always thought he was playing to the cameras, he'd head balls that were in his fellow centre half's area, it looked good but meant the defence was all over the place.

Southgate was lucky to play with McGrath & Ehiogu, anyone can sweep behind them 2. When Ugo was injured and Southgate played alongside Calderwood he looked lost.

I'd give a special mention to James Chester, who held the defence together on 1 leg for a while, until Mings rocked up.
