The Chelsea incident is exactly how it should be used. Ref misses an obvious foul, they are human, and VAR steps in. Ref looks again and makes the correct decision after seeing a replay.

It would be interesting what the ref told VAR he saw whilst looking straight at it and didn't give it there or then, but VAR decided it was a clear error. Because most of the time it is that discussion that decides whether VAR will overrule the on field decision or not.

Is this the right thread to call Pochettino a bell end?

Yep and really Pochettino should be sanctioned, because his comments are inflammatory and undermine the system.

You can pretty much post that in all the threads and it would be fine.

The referee had a decent line of vision, so I wonder did he want a Chelsea win, but when VAR got involved he perhaps had no choice because it was on national TV

Crooks contribution.

Celebrations muted, no-one knows what a handball or offside is any more and as for penalties, no-one has a clue. Those who insisted that technology be brought into the game certainly have a lot to answer for.

Can I just argue that the refs and officials on the pitch didn't know these answers either before VAR was introduced and just decided on which team they wanted to win.

He didn’t want a Chelsea win. We’re not bloody Nottingham Forest.

My view as well

Especially if it's Manchester United.

I don't know how the ref managed to miss such an obvious push in the back, but it was a clear and obvious error and an instance of where VAR did what it's there for. Pochettino wouldn't have been saying that if the shoe had been on the other foot. How someone like Shearer, who has no conflict of interest, can think it should have been allowed is beyond me.

Because Shearer was a physical Centre Forward who liked a bit of barging etc. In days gone by I could see that not being given, but the game as it is these days sees challenges like that as clear free-kicks.

Such an obvious free kick, people saying "Carlos should have been stronger" are totally missing the point. The Chelsea player ran into the back of Carlos, barging him with no attempt to win the ball, and that's a foul all day long.
