I think this goes to show what a sham the away scheme was last season.   Clearly a lot on it didn’t go regularly away
Agreed. They obviously didn't do 9+ aways and picked and chose their games, I.e. Albion and Blues. Which is what people said all along.

I was part of the Away Scheme and I did go to 9+ aways last year & got a Spurs ticket on Monday.  For the record, I wouldn't go to Blues if you paid me.

What you’ve said Jane vindicates my argument- I went 17 league aways last season but my history will only show 15. Why should someone have benefited above me for an Albion okay off away ticket if they had attended less aways.   Again it was an easy way for the club to get shot of allocations quickly

Am sure the villa were tempted to continue with the scheme this season but would have faced questions about the admin charge making tickets much higher than £30 seal

Does anyone have any idea on how many are left?

My window opens at 5pm and looks like there's some availability but just wondering how likely it is that I'll get one.

As a matter of interest, were all of the sections available to 18+ aways or have they released them as sales progressed?

Strange that it's been on sale to 9+ aways for 3 days and only just sold out a few hours before all season ticket holders.

I think this goes to show what a sham the away scheme was last season.   Clearly a lot on it didn’t go regularly away

I’m surprised given the outcry about last years scheme when a few hundred fans dipped into their pockets to help out the club in its greatest financial crisis ever (that’s my take on it, I was member myself, I didn’t need to I would have got tickets anyway), that more hasn’t been made about home fans jumping the queue by becoming members at £30 a shot when we don’t need the money! I hope we make sure they’re not just going to the odd game.

The away scheme had a £25 charge for years, back to the O'Neil days, it had nothing to do with the financial situation of the club, more that it's a scheme that has to be managed and operated and that comes at a cost.

I think the whole thing went downhill when we had to start buying the tickets ourselves IF we wanted them, rather than automatically getting sent a ticket and only being allowed to return three each season before being kicked out.

I think many of us 9+ simply thought we had no chance, & over those 3 days it has gradually clicked with more and more of us that they were still on sale!

I was disappointed to see the away scheme discontinued as the cost was more than outweighed by being able to by train tickets very early in the knowledge you would get a ticket - saved a lot of money.

I’m not so sure.  The figure remaining hardly moved between Tuesday morning and this morning then hey presto, they all go within a couple of hours this afternoon.

I strongly suspect that Villa waited to give all 9+ a chance and then let the last few go to corporate and sponsors who will have all been nagging for extra tickets.  I doubt there was ever any intention to release the last few at 5pm today.

I think your cynicism is well founded Brassneck. There's still so much that is wrong at our club.

Ok, I'll join the other queue; if anyone has a spare please let me know. (I qualify for senior ticket but happy to pay standard price if available). Cheers, guys.

I don't think it is sold out.  The ticket site says sales will be temporarily suspended from 4.30 to 5pm and STHs can buy them then.

Exact wording:
'Ticket sales for this match will be suspended at 4.30pm today and re-open at 5.00pm to all Season Ticket Holders'
