I haven’t got bored of watching Conor’s goal just yet. Fantastic vision from Jack in the buildup and a wonderful shot.

Ours was definitely a pen and I thought they should have had one too but when you look at the match report it wasn’t given. Tough shite Stripey Filth!
The time Jack had in the box was obscene, they daredn't go near him. ;D

Thanks for this - yeah they should have one too to be fair.

Gayle wasn't even looking at the ball as it came in the dirty bugger

Any chance of Gayle's red being over-turned?

Not a chance.

They are going to have to rejig things quite a bit with injuries too. Plus Phillips looked miles off the pace, only back from injury ain't he?

Some selection headaches for Deano ahead of Tuesday.  Conor was great when he came on, I think Albert's experience and work rate will earn him a start.  I don't normally like changing a winning team but mindful that we don't need to win on Tuesday, I would be tempted to swap Taylor for Hause.  Today was Taylor's worst game for some time and they also targeted him by playing high balls over to Philips.

Great win that I couldn't see coming on 70 minutes and naturally, FTA.
Taylor was my man of the match

I think the penalty chance for them was probably lucky not to be given but what went in our favour was that Tammy jumped fairly early and their guy stayed on the ground so it could be taken that Tammy put hands out to start going over the top of him.

Im guessing that is ironic?

Taylor was massively the weak link both offensively and defensively

Taylor doesn't back himself much, does he? I thought him and El Ghazi were very good down that side, and they repeatedly worked Taylor into some brilliant positions, but never delivered a telling blow. Frustrating.

It was quite unbelievably stupid from Gayle in the second half.  Booked for time wasting, should have got a second yellow for a body check a few minutes later, and then with the final whistle looming he gets himself sent off for a pointless lunge at the goalkeeper, thereby significantly reducing his side's chances in the second leg.  Footballers never cease to amaze me at how brain dead they can be.

Hilarious!

Commentator was saying they have him down as a special coach for the future.

The gift that will carry on giving then.

The Villa Thread on SHA is magical reading............the bitterness and hatred is something to behold. Without us they would literally be nothing. The Albion fans aren't far behind them now having said that.

Weather should be fine next Tuesday. No sign of a Gayle in Sandwell, anyway.
And hopefully Conor Hurricane will be flowing well  for us.

Great result in a cracking Villa atmosphere. Mings and McGinn both looked out of sorts, but hopefully will play better Tuesday. Certainly the bitters will have to open up and that should suit John. Conor's strike was a thing of beauty. His last ditch interception 5 or 10 mins before his goal was also game changing. Gayle proved throughout the game what a tw-t he is and his red card served to endorse this. We've still got a job to do to make the final, but I've got faith that Dean and the boys will  give their all to get there. UTV!
