to be honest i didn't think it was a penalty.. but the ref did and that's all that matters..
i wonder how many on here would have accepted them get the same penalty decision

I thought the penalty was clear as day and proven by Gibbs’ reaction to it all. He knew he caught Jack. I actually thought Gayle was a little unlucky with the sending off. But as my grandma used to say

“fuck the Albion”

Good old grandma

I thought we were unlucky not to get a penalty earlier for the handball. A very good win considering so many of our better players had poor games by their exacting standards - Mings was poor, particularly the quality of his passing as was Axel, and Taylor reverted to type for much of the game. Great win, made even more satisfying by that ghastly Hobbit being  shown a red card. Time wasting tosser.

caller on WM said wasn't  penalty , they should have had one and Gayle shouldn't have been sent off..love the unbiased opinions..

No that was Jimmy Shan their caretaker coach / under 9s manager.

Shan sounded devastated that they're going to have to come out to play on Tuesday. "I'll have to tweak one or two things". No fucking shit, mate. Tbf, shouldn't knock him, that back nine of theirs almost managed to hold out. The fucking dullarse stripey ******.

Cracking game, though. It had everything.

A point about the ref. That c*** made sure he was the star of the show with his ambling round the pitch. He had more of an effect on the game that anyone, and after 2 mins when he pulled play back after Jack had been fouled, but didn’t book their player, just set the tone for the rest of the game.

As he gave us a penalty, refused them what looked to me to be a penalty, booked Gayle for time wasting and later sent him off, I'd say the referee was ok today.

nothing less than they deserved for time wasting almost from the kick off.

Gayle went in with both feet off the ground, had to be a yellow.

Everyone can we get some more posts on here quick.  We are in danger of having less posts than the Match thread over on SHA.

Wow what a great afternoon at VP - terrific atmosphere and deafening noise!

For all the changes in manager Albion are still a Tiny Penis side playing Tiny Penis football. Two banks of 5 when we had the ball, constant fouls, long throws and time wasting. They had a game plan to either grab a goal or take 0-0 back to their place, and unfortunately we gifted them the goal. Thought Deano was slow to make the changes - I'd have brought Hourihane on for Whelan at half time but the what a difference when the change was made. They were sitting deeper and deeper and you just sensed the goal coming - and what a strike by Hourihane! Looked a clear penalty from I was sitting, and beautifully put away by Tammy. Great scenes.

So half time advantage us, and they have no Gayle for the second leg. Mustn't get complacent, but maybe, just maybe...

A few moments of quality from Hourahane, Grealish and Tammy and we win the game. They won't be able to sit on it in the second leg.

Possession 69% to 31%
Shots 21 to 5
Shots on target 6 to 2

Yeah we really stank the place out......WTF....FFS!!!
I think that's a good example of stats not telling the full story.  From those you'd think we mullered them from the kick off, which we didn't.

Yeah that’s a reflection of the fact they had a game plan to sit deep after the goal. And it looked like it was going to work until that bit of magic from grealish/Hourihane.

A lot of Leeds games have had stats like that when they’ve lost.
What I meant by 'stank the place out' was we had no answer to their tactics for most of the game.

'Ave that you negative stripey tossers!

They'll have to cross the halfway in the second leg now, so in theory it should free us up to play some better football.
Reminded me of Pulis last year.

Starting to get concerned that again we only turned up second half. Saying that, to play way below our potential against a team that probably played better than they have in a long time and still win, says a lot about this squad.

Struggling to think of a MOTM as all would only get a 5 or 6. We will be sharper and put in better performances in the coming games.

I haven’t got bored of watching Conor’s goal just yet. Fantastic vision from Jack in the buildup and a wonderful shot.

Ours was definitely a pen and I thought they should have had one too but when you look at the match report it wasn’t given. Tough shite Stripey Filth!

Watching on a good stream, I thought it was quiet and flat for long periods.
