They had 1 tactic in attack, hoof it up to Gayle and hope for best. Cut out the stupid mistakes at the back and we should be fine on Tues.

Their formation stifled our midfield. The only space before we scored was behind their wing backs and it was mostly just El Ghazi and Taylor trying to exploit that.

Delighted with the result, disappointied with the performance.
We were very nervous for 70 minutes and the bitters spoiling tactics and time wasting made it difficult for us to get going.

Still, the bitters got their deserts and we looked much more our usual selves for the last 20.

A point about the ref. That ****** made sure he was the star of the show with his ambling round the pitch. He had more of an effect on the game that anyone, and after 2 mins when he pulled play back after Jack had been fouled, but didn’t book their player, just set the tone for the rest of the game.

So we are just about in the driving seat, but it’s going to be a fecking nervy Tuesday night.

Oh, and FUCK THE ALBION.

Just seen Tammy's after match interview. He said.....We are Aston Villa. I think he loves it here.

I just posted the Twitter link on the Tammy thread. And when it was suggested it could be his last game he certainly didn’t commit to that at all. Yes he loves it with us.

That Tyrone Mears is utterly useless aswell.

He is 35 years old and barely played.

I did say at start of the season they had lots of old players in their squad (like us last season) so looks like at the crucial time that's hurting them.

Hopefully this was our poor performance in the play offs out of the way.

Last year we were comfortable both legs v Boro and then played exactly the same way v Fulham and were found out.

Would be unforgivable if we get through and then get nulified again.

Weather should be fine next Tuesday. No sign of a Gayle in Sandwell, anyway.

He's 36.

Did seem like they ran out of steam towards the end. Which is nice.

I saw a tesco bags supporting acquaintance of mine who was sitting in the home section on the way out. He still thinks they've got a 60/40 chance of going through even without Gayle... Talk about delusional.

I saw that as well and he also said about hoping its not his last game at VP. I think if we go up and can work out a deal with Chelsea (with their transfer problems) he would love to stay.

My nerves are not coping too well with this, at my age and years of following the Villa, you'd think I would be used to this by now.  Well done Villa.
