I don't get this " it's far from over" opinion. It's over. This was their big chance to get away with a draw. They have reverted to horrific Pulis methods under Jimmy Shan including those laughable long throws. Parked their bus and nearly got away with it but didn't. On Tuesday they are going to have to open up as they need to win by 2 clear. No chance of that.

They could win by 1 and then win on penalties. It is far from over, better teams than us have fucked up against shitter sides than the bitters. I don't want there to be any complacency.

Agree 100%. We’re essentially a goal up at half-time and the second half is on their turf. It’s far from over and we’re goong to need to play well to get through.

We were still by far and away the better side, even if we weren't at full throttle.

The Albion were one of the worst sides to play at Villa Park. Fucking awful.

Worse than the rags. And as for their 'penalty', get the fuck outta here you fucking desperate tramps.

The bitter twats are off their heads.

The referee cheated them.
We dived.
We paid the ref.
We've cheated FFP.
We're shite (despite being better than them in every way)
They beat Swansea in 1993, so they're going beat us.

I cant abide them.

Can't see us not making the final now. We were better than them, they had their bit of luck and it wasn't enough.

Some selection headaches for Deano ahead of Tuesday.  Conor was great when he came on, I think Albert's experience and work rate will earn him a start.  I don't normally like changing a winning team but mindful that we don't need to win on Tuesday, I would be tempted to swap Taylor for Hause.  Today was Taylor's worst game for some time and they also targeted him by playing high balls over to Philips.

Great win that I couldn't see coming on 70 minutes and naturally, FTA.
Taylor was my man of the match

I agree.
As for 'targeting him' they were playing high balls full stop.

Amazed at the stick Taylor is getting, he was one of our better players.

Didn't think Tammy was great at all, just hope he was still feeling his way back in after the shoulder lay off. Adomah was completely anonymous so those two I'd be looking at before Taylor.

taylor and albert do need fucking off thou

Thought Taylor was good, defended well and got forward when he could.

Adomah hardly did anything, can see Green starting on Tuesday.

I thought he kept giving the ball away in good positions
and yes AA was useless again . .

Agree about Tammy he was worryingly poor. Mostly anonymous apart from the early effort and he judged that badly because he had time to control it.

Agreed, Taylor was poor and Albert did nothing, but he must have had a kick up the arse at half time as he started to take players & be more direct, 2nd half.

Tammy, worryingly poor. Really? One of the last players I’m worrying about is a player who has a superb attitude and has scored 25+ times for us.

The bitters can't even claim to play beautiful attacking football any more. Grim stuff.

He did his usual job but I hardly saw any movement or pushing the defenders around.

Gayle was superb at that first half creating space so huge boost for us he can't play on Tuesday.

Worrying in the sense we lack goalscoring strikers if he can’t start scoring from open play again. His 25 goals are irrelevant for the next couple of games and he looks way off his early season form. Mind you so did McGinn.

He took his penalty very well mind.

I thought Albion’s tactics were rubbish, thought they were better than that to be honest

I know negative tactics can be effective but they are still rubbish,
and I was just as critical when we played like that under Bruce (although I can’t remember even us going into time wasting mode with only 10 minutes are showing on the clock)
but it’s the reason I hated nearly every minute of watching football under him
I’m so glad we’ve left all that shit behind

a 5–5 defensive formation or a 5-4-1 when they went positive was always going to be difficult to break down
they came with no intention of playing any football, they know we are better than them, we would never go to their place in the same position and set up like that under Smith

we are a far better footballing side, it doesn’t guarantee anything but if the best team wins through it will be us

It reminds me of Grabban going off the boil end of last season and was a non factor in the final, at least Tammy has an injury as a decent reason why.

Last season when you look back I thought Snodgrass played really poorly in the play off final and Albert had done his end of season disappearing act so really we only had Jack as in form player in that four and it obviously wasn't good enough to take out Fulham on the day.

At least this year El Ghazi is in good form so he's another player opposition need to stick two on.
