If that tale is indeed true then Mings was a wise man to hold on. Gerrard was already on thin ice, still think something must have went down on that pre season trip to Aus,  was clear from early on that season that he had lost the dressing room.

Mings proved his value as soon as Emery came in. Next time he meets Gerrard he will have no issue looking him in the eye.

I’m pretty sure Emery would have accepted a decent bid for Cash that would have enabled him to bring in an experienced right-back. He’s virtually pure profit for starters, and not much cop. I doubt there was a decent bid though.

Yet when challenged that the likes of Onana or Maatsen still aren't first choice, despite the huge investment in them, the happy clappers are keen to point out at every opportunity that's there's no such thing as a first X1, horses for courses and all that.

Ramsey took part in 46 games last year despite a lot of competition for his place (11th in terms of minutes played over the season). That's with an injury that cost him 10 games. He was pretty good, rarely outstanding, when he did play and unlike a lot of our squad, his best days should be ahead of him injury permitting.

I'm glad Mings, and McGinn to an extent, has made clear that this isn't a case of the player being greedy or whatever fans are accusing him of.

Players are human too. They see the club they are at, and in the case of Mings and SJM, clubs they genuinely love losing players and not being able to sign new ones, while the sides we are trying to catch spending massive amounts and freely. That's got to be a bit shit for them too. They are competitive and while, yes they are at a PL club with a top manager, they are not so naive to think that having some top players come in will help their cause. It would have been great to have had Asensio and Rashford in last season as it genuinely helped and propelled us up the table. Our players are very good, some excellent but some players are just that extra level and we can't sign them.
