You haven’t seen it then - he really clearly looks back and then moves accordingly. He isn’t trying to do him or anything but he looks and reacts.

Yes, he definitely sees him (or sees "a" bournemouth player in his peripheral vision), and he clearly steps across with his right leg and puts out his right arm to protect the ball, knowing any contact will win him a free kick.  His movement changes the challenge from a side-on one, to one from behind, hence the free-kick.  Tyrone simply wouldn't step across in that way, or put his arm out if he hadn't seen him and wasn't anticipating a challenge.

But NONE of that suggests it was an "elbow".  It was just him putting his body between the opposition player and the ball to win a free-kick, which happens a dozen times every single game.

Would have been better if I hadn't fucked it up!

Is that a quote from Scott?

I like the idea of Coops watching it over and over. In between “Jermaine Beckford’s Best Bits” on VHS.

Torres was brilliant v Bayern too. But he's increasingly struggling with bog standard PL strikers. Quick and strong, they just know they can get at him. Emery has said as much earlier in the season, he has to be better in those duels. He spent a lot of time injured this season and he didn't play for Spain last summer. More than enough time to hit the gym and address his lack of physical power. If he did, there's no evidence of it currently.
Mings has his limitations with the ball particularly, he's better running with it than passing for one. But likes of Isak, Evanilson know they aren't going to do him for pace or overpower him. No chance to be honest. It's been a fair comeback for Mings since Emery took him off v Chelsea at home, for his own good more than any injury I suspect.
I hope Mings is good enough and fit enough to get another season with us. If not, Disasi as the 'defensive minder' (at CB only!) wouldn't be the worst option.

It's definitely something that, had it been the other way round we'd have been jumping up and down over, albeit certainly not malicious like some had made it out to be

But if you take the piss out of admiration for a two-bit striker of the 2010s (what did they call that decade in the end- the teenies?), surely you must doff the cap for a consistent love of Mings.

This league is tough, physical and fast and no room for sentiment as a CB. Anyone who thinks the likes of Van Dyke or Saliba etc are saints needs to start watching closer . Mings was fouled in the incident that has been brought up again this afternoon, lunge into his back and raking studs down the Achilles , he may have put an arm out in natural response and balance to the incoming player , but he didn't look at him and he didn't swing his elbow , to suggest otherwise is bizzare , as per all the officials that reviewed it , scrutinised it etc . If should be a yellow possible red to their player if you review the boot onto Achilles .

He glanced across and saw him coming. They showed that in the replays. However he wasn't looking at him all the time and didn't swing, but if he hadn't have looked he wouldn't have known he was there to try to protect the ball from. A defender doesn't just stretch an arm out like that on the off-chance as it puts them off balance.
Maybe sees him in peripheral vision or natural instinct , I've watched it over and over and he doesn't look at him. It's a fantastic piece of defending when you scrutinise it and brave also , he's lucky he didn't come out of it injured himself .

The poor Bournemouth chap nursing a broken jaw and being "gaslit".

If I had the time (I do) and effort (I don’t) to go back through Coop’s posts, I reckon I’d find him slagging Mings off rotten a few seasons ago.

Unlikely - his previous two names were banned in 2010 and 2015, and the latest version didn't appear until 2023.

So we missed out on his wisdom on Mings' bollock-dropping early years* in the Premier League and all the slagging off the Tories / taking a knee stuff.

*the transformation from which, is extremely impressive. It was probably overblown at the time (like the Pau stuff now), but there was a time when it seemed that every match focused on Mings' latest goal-resulting error. Apart from the Bruges brain-fart, it's hard to remember the last serious mistake he made.

We really missed out on some glory years by not signing Altidore and Beckford back then.

Scott is looking to clatter him, Ty knows this because he’s been clattered many times before so he does what is necessary to protect himself. If a keeper can raise his leg to protect himself how is this any different? Aside from that, Scott is intending to make a challenge which he knows will be given as a foul and which might cause injury., that’s why it’s deemed a foul. The injury he’s sustained is purely down to himself. We’ve seen it many times before, try to foul/injure an opponent but come off much worse yourself. His fault, nobody else’s.

An 8 year gap? I wonder why the return? Serial killers ultimately tend to have to scratch that itch again.

Fuck Bournemouth and their big lanky goon who got levelled trying it on with Mings. They're a physical team and this is what happens when you play a physical game.
