From the club point of view it might not be great, in that that is entirely possible. I’m just glad for him it’s not a major set back.

He gets plenty of support. We need one or two centre backs better than what we have to help us climb though. Konsa, Mings and Torres all have their limitations.

Konsa, Mings and Torres all have their limitations.Most centre backs do have limitations…if you take out Gabriel, Saliba, Van Dijk and maybe Diaz there are no better centre halves than we have…there are probably 15/20 who are very similar then obviously the likes of Bednarek stinking the league out.A lot of limitations though are down to the way we play…I’m all for keeping the ball but it seems we have really gone down the warren that clearing a ball into touch or down the pitch when under extreme pressure to allow a reset is almost forbidden…When all fit id still like to see us try 3 centre halves occasionally (not all the time!)…Konsa right, Torres left and Mings in the centre…gives physicality, organisation and distribution & at least one player to attack the ball when we defend corners. This time last year changing formation would have seemed unthinkable but we are nowhere near as creative whilst opponents have started to respect us and sit behind the ball a lot more.

It is very hard to switch systems from game to game and if you add form, fatigue and injuries almost impossible.
