He’s a far superior defender than Pau.

He’s more physically dominant, I don’t know if that’s better per se.And on the subsequent point Risso, the bit I can’t square is why it all falls on Torres. He has been part of the defence that’s been ropey, but he was also part of the one that got us to top of the league. Accepting form fluctuates, but it suggests he’s not hopeless.

I'm surprised he hasn't tried playing Tyrone in between Konsa and Torres yet. That way enables the full backs to push on, which has been a problem recently. Also think he should try Watkins in his old position wide on the left with Duran in the middle. Ollie will likely score more cutting in or running behind.
Quote from: PaulWinch again on December 02, 2024, 10:08:40 AMYep, I like Ty but his absence has enhanced his rep. He had a good run in Unai’s initial time at the club, but his has plenty of big mistakes in him. Pau is the current scapegoat for some, but I suspect many of those same people will be getting on Ty’s back within a few weeks if he starts playing regularly. He brings different attributes, but he’s not better than Pau. He’d be exposed as well by our non-existent midfield as it is currently. You might be right, you might not. But an absolute certainty is that this defence with Torres has been conceding two goals a game for the best part of a year, and Saturday was a perfect example of why. It's not like we're suggesting Hause comes in for Torres. If you keep making the same mistakes, surely at some point you have to try something else? Because every week Emery says they're working on it, and every week the same things keep happening. If Unai doesn't try something else, it's going to cost him his job.

Mate, I think the days about arguing over the make up of the defence are long gone. Whoever plays, they're all atrocious. It's like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.I'd definitely be giving Mings a start on Wednesday though. Whether that's with Konsa and Cash, or Carlos and Konsa, I'm not that bothered.
