He has pretty much entirely consistent for his time here, despite what people say, but Emery has taken his game to a new level. The thing about Tyrone is he hadn't played for pretty much four years before he joined us and came into the game late, so for a player of his age (25/26) he played the same number of games as a 20/21 year old. He still showed natural leadership qualities but had to learn on the job a bit. He now has the perfect manager to iron out the kinks and let his natural qualities shine.I see him as a symbol of our recovery after the shit show years and for that reason, he is one of my favourite players since I started supporting. He's ace.
But even his mistakes are sometimes over stated. How often have his mistakes led to a goal - once or twice a season maybe?

The defence being properly drilled and receiving better protection from the midfield means that each can concentrate on their own jobs instead of being too easily pulled out of position.

Yes, the whole team is playing 100 times better now. Defending as a unit and attacking as a unit. When we don't have the ball it's often 6 players we have defending like their lives depend on it. Picking a random game as a comparison from Gerrard's time, look at the 3-3 draw with Leeds last year. Some great attacking play from Coutinho and Ramsey, but the midfield and the defence especially Mings, were all over the place. We see none of that now, and the one game where we did (Leicester at home) was obviously used by Emery as a lesson to them all to tighten up.
