If Leeds survive by a single point today, do you think next season their fans won't sing "Tyrone Mings is fucking shit" at length when we play them?

What actually happens when Tyrone points to somewhere on the pitch?

Whereas Grealish keeps his place. Those ten minutes he played for Man City must have made all the difference.

Not a surprise, nor is Ollie's omission, but Maguire should not be in the squad.

It is a surprise for me, on form he's been one of the best English defenders in the league for the last 2 months, dropping him and keeping Maguire is absolute proof that once you're 'in' with Southgate form is irrelevant and you'll get picked whenever you're fit.

To be fair, if he's the one to drop out to get Tomori in there (who definitely should be there) then it's a shame but understandable.

Whether any of Coady, Stones or Maguire deserve to be there ahead of him on current form is debatable. But it's never been a case of just selecting the 23 people who played best in the round of games just gone, there needs to be a balance between form and experience, both internationally and at club level.

It's not as if his Villa form has made him undroppable.

I don’t have a huge issue with it either. But he’s also I think the only naturally left sided CB. So while it’s not a surprise that Southgate dropped him, in equal measure it’s not a shock he kept Maguire, Stones or Grealish; a player who has done so little this season. A player who struggled to get into the squad while playing some of the best football in the country for a solid amount of time.

Reflects more that England do not have one quality centre half so Southgate is just chucking darts at the board hoping a couple stick.  Maguire should have been nowhere near any squad this season.

Now that ManU have got a new manager in the quality of Erik Ten Hag Maguire has automatically become a much better player.
