Incredible block.  Great to see defenders who love the art of defending.  We should be keeping him as part of the squad I reckon.

personally - I dont think our defence is a huge issue - full backs are ok.  I think Mings has been good this season

He makes mistakes - but so do so many centre halfs

I think they have suffered from our midfield issues

With a decent defensive midfielder in front of Mings I think he will prosper.

Very solid. That was a filthy elbow on him early on but he didn't let it rattle him. Saving the certain goal at the end.

Like Pope getting his right hand to Traore's header, he had no right to get that block in. A captain that leads by example. He remains awesome.

Rumours Newcastle want to buy him.  Probably bollocks, but fee in rumour is £35m.  https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-tyrone-mings-newcastle-27002788.amp

I was very impressed he didn't feel the need to leave one on Barnes later on, even a year ago I think he'd have got himself in trouble going for a bit of vengence.

Yep he let his defending do the talking so thug donkey Barnes eventually got the hook. He just needs a better centre half than Konsa alongside him.

No, he needs a quality DM in front of him

Yes but that block was more James Collins less Paul McGrath. The idea to to defend in a way that last ditch stuff is not required.

Expecting a big game by Ty today versus Man City.
Defensive wise to be solid. Just worry about possession.
But also his long outballs may be something to look out for when he feeds Watkins.

Good 2 page spread of interview with him in The Times sport section.
Can anyone put the link up?
