And what about TM attacking forrays including his magic left wing displays , that he nearly scored 2 headers and that he brought ball forward several times and beats his players
I thought he was way better than Konsa who was mindless in what he did to be sent off

Not to mention Ty had to put up with Leeds abusing him and would have liked far more support for him.
The man plays his own game he should be appluaded and lauded .

Buendia was ruining things all night by messing up passes and poor final balls he capped it off by barging James and Mings for the James 'header'

Mings is first on team sheet leader and inspiration to all. And the Leeds fans should be ashamed of themselves

Mings is first on the team sheet at Cheltenham Town at a push. He’s the weakest link and has been for a long time

You're as bad as those leeds lot. He's a very solid and tidy player. He actually under appreciated because of the way he plays the game I think people aren't liking his playing on his own game and get impatient with him.
Mings clearly carries responsibility of other players and the team and takes on extra pressure. Unfair to make comments that he's lower league player as he more than shown he's international player I think getting behind him help his confidence rather than nit pick his small errors

Mings was (mostly) great in the championship and like someone else mentioned, he will be remembered fondly alongside El Ghazi, Trez, Albert, Elmo etc as someone who brought some pride back to the club after years in the doldrums BUT the consistent mistakes are now directly responsible for dropping points. Tonight he’s responsible for two, if not all three goals. In isolation the odd mistake is fine / expected but this is happening in every game. Add to that the fact he’s the captain and it’s simply not good enough.

He probably needs a change of scenery - which I can see happening this summer.

Personally, I think he gets unduly criticised - Any mistake he makes is magnified way more than any other player.

Half the problem is that there is no protection of the defence with such a lightweight midfield in front of them.

McGinn, Luiz and Watkins were far worse tonight imo, but I don’t hear as many ‘fans’ ripping into them?

His mistakes get magnified more when they lead to goals. As they did for all three goals tonight. He's entitled to think Konsa should have bailed him out for the first and got the block in but he makes the initial mistake under no pressure. Second, any centre half with his physical size should be making that ball his without question. Third was just an utterly embarrassing effort to clear a routine ball with his right foot.

At fault for all 3 goals scored by Leeds. SG's top priority is to replace him in the summer.

Agreed. It's so very tiresome to get up at 5 to watch Mings ambling around like a pub player. Useless tonight.

I've only read the last few posts, so it might have been said already, but if SJM and Luiz had been at the races he might not have been under so much pressure so often.

Agree, the midfield was as soft as butter. Although Mings will be replaced of that I'm certain.

Great character and a thoroughly decent bloke but he won't be here next season. I also agree that the midfield don't help both Konza and himself, however there's just too many brain farts.

Absolutely. We defended as a unit like a pub side. Mings had a stinker but so did others. He’s still a brilliant captain and very influential to our team.

We may be poorer without him right now, but it doesn't mean to say that we shouldn't be looking to upgrade in the summer.

Failure to do so will result in all of us discussing the same issues again next season.

I really want him to be brilliant and sometimes he is, but the number of mistakes he makes over a season is way too many.

After a nights reflection I think he showed all the good and bad of his ability last night.

As others have mentioned though I thought McGinn, Luiz and Ramseys defensive performance was really poor so the whole back 4 was massively exposed and we were getting dragged out of shape far too easily by out wide overloads and midfield runners. That of course leads to errors, poor decisions and the crap goals we gave away.

I still think whilst his errors were more eye catching I think Konsa was as bad if not worse.

We'll never know, but it would be interesting to know if Mings preferred playing with Targett as opposed to Digne. 5 goals we've conceded in our last 2 home games, which indicates to me that our defence is a shambles and I include the midfield 3 in that along with the back 5.
The way we are set up to play does Konsa and Mings no favours. If you're going to play with attacking full backs then you need defensively minded midfielders to cover their runs and the centre backs. The 3 we have are excellent going forwards, but poor defensively, which is why it was important to bring in a dcm.
Where was Luiz to cover Mings and Konsa for the 1st?
Ramsey and Cash were like statues for the back flick leading to the second. Where was the defender/midfielder reacting to Mings clearance for the 3rd?
Our manager/coaches need to do some work to give better protection to our cbs and that might mean tinkering with the system he prefers until he has the players (particularly midfielders) who can implement it fully.
Posters make me laugh when they talk about upgrades on players. Who are these upgrades for a team in our lower mid-table position? And in case it's gone unnoticed the transfer window is now closed till the summer, so talk of "upgrades" is pointless while there are 15 or so games still to play.

Two attacking full backs and an utter lack of presence and control in midfield will lead to pressure on the centre backs. That said, even with that excuse the two of them were piss poor last night and it’s becoming more common and therefore a problem with Mings. It is time to start questioning his long term place in the team, in addition to a top quality centre mid we definitely need a top quality centre back who can play both sides ideally but moreso left side.
Liverpool’s centre backs get the pressure too but when you have someone as good as Van Diyk there it doesn’t matter too much. You did see the difference last season when he was out of the team though and even more when Henderson was out as well who offers the necessary protection.

And of all the players over the past year or so we’re fond of but we need to think about upgrading he gets the most Kudos of all of them. He was almost McGrath like in the championship and a massive reason we got promoted.

OK so who is the upgrade? Surely you can't be suggesting van diyk?
Everybody is going to need upgrading at some stage including the coaching/management team and those upgrades will also need upgrading, so talk of upgrades is an obvious non-argument.
