Chrisf let me know if you understand the point I asked about. I’m sure there’s a few of us happy to explain if there’s any uncertainty.
Very cool. I'm very happy to hear what defunding the police means here and now. This should be useful guys. Though it's definitely not related to taking the knee or any of that other completely apolitical stuff.

Defund the police doesn't mean removing police budgets. It never has. It has been about appropriate police force funding so they don't turn out like military combat units and instead have budget that better allows for a balanced approach to community policing vs crime fighting.

That's super Toronto. Good work and so incisive. We're safe in your hands.

It is divisive, yes. Those booing are twats, those who don't boo aren't. If you boo it  you're dragging our club's reputation through the mud. Just sit and be respectful of antiracism for two seconds, it isn't difficult.

And you literally can't "have huge respect for Tyrone" if you boo.
Seems I need to work harder in my Struggle Sessions. I'm very sorry for not complying more completely comrade.

Alternatively, you could provide argument as to why I should applaud a representative of the club that my family has supported for over a hundred years making political representation for a group that wants to defund the police and destroy the nuclear family quite apart from their clearly and stated racism?

My god will you shut up, fucking snowflake.

That's unaceptable.

Why would I want to do that?
It's not the best analogy ever but just saying 'Taking The Knee' has nothing to do with 'Black Lives Matter' is hoping to scrub an association that isn't going to scrub.

A far better analogy if you want to go down that particular route, is whether these guys should be forced to change what they're doing because there are some people out there without the mental agility to disassociate a symbol with a group that chose to adopt it?

Who's in charge of taking the knee to support BLM? Have they released a Manifesto? If every player supports it, and you're so vehemently against it, do you want rid of all the players from the club?
I don't know which is why I post that I think Tyrone is on to a loser by being stubborn over it.

Let me help.

‘Defunding the police’ is a term commonly used by American BLM protests. People who call for it support divesting funds from police departments and reallocating them to non-policing forms of public safety and community support, such as social services, youth services, housing, education, healthcare and other community resources. To me this seems sensible in both the US and UK. But this isn’t about my opinion really, just trying to update you.

It’s not linked with the taking of the knee in English football. You can find out more about that from Tyrone here https://youtu.be/bVvlL3l5yrQ. If anything isn’t clear in this video give me a shout and I’ll do my best to help clear that up too. 👍

Those "stubborn" Black people, eh? When are they ever happy? They'll be wanting not to be treated differently because of the colour of their skin, next.
