It is divisive, yes. Those booing are twats, those who don't boo aren't. If you boo it  you're dragging our club's reputation through the mud. Just sit and be respectful of antiracism for two seconds, it isn't difficult.

And you literally can't "have huge respect for Tyrone" if you boo.
Seems I need to work harder in my Struggle Sessions. I'm very sorry for not complying more completely comrade.

Alternatively, you could provide argument as to why I should applaud a representative of the club that my family has supported for over a hundred years making political representation for a group that wants to defund the police and destroy the nuclear family quite apart from their clearly and stated racism?

Oh, that's easy. They're not. They've specifically said they are not. Many times.

No reason to boo now, is there?

What's the 'M' word? Which bit of the political BLM groups manifesto did I get wrong?

We can say it's not associated until we're blue in the face but a significant number of the paying public are not going to buy it.

That's fine. I guess you're OK with holding your arm in the air for better railways right?

Why would I want to do that?

The taking of the knee is about support for equality for BAME people. Not a wider political movement.

But one of the common concerns that’s mentioned is defunding of the police. Chrisf do you understand what this means? I just want to make sure because it’s not about abolishing the police. It’s something quite different. But the true meaning isn’t commonly looked up or understood.

When, exactly, would there be a public occasion at which these prats would have the opportunity to actually boo Kick It Out? If they could they would, because most of the booers don’t want an end to racism (the others don’t think it’s an issue).
That's fair comment. I only comment (esp on this thread) because I don't think it's a few prats booing and I don't think they're booing because they're racists.

I have huge respect for Tyrone and his team mates intentions but I'd boo if I was there because I think in this choice of symbolic gesture is divisive and we don't need stuff that's divisive.

That's nonsense. It's a divisive topic if that's how you want to portray it in your own mind. And I'm sorry, but you can't have a huge respect for Tyrone Mings if you boo him for taking the knee, because to him it is much more than a symbolic gesture. It is merely the tip of the iceberg of what he is trying to highlight. The fact that the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities published a report that essentially denied the existence of systemic racism in the UK is all proof and reason that is needed for protests; symbolic or more tangible to continue.

Those people probably shouldn't cause division by accusing the people they've paid to watch play football, of lying about their nefarious political aims.

It's not the best analogy ever but just saying 'Taking The Knee' has nothing to do with 'Black Lives Matter' is hoping to scrub an association that isn't going to scrub.

Chrisf let me know if you understand the point I asked about. I’m sure there’s a few of us happy to explain if there’s any uncertainty.

Who's in charge of taking the knee to support BLM? Have they released a Manifesto? If every player supports it, and you're so vehemently against it, do you want rid of all the players from the club?

Very cool. I'm very happy to hear what defunding the police means here and now. This should be useful guys. Though it's definitely not related to taking the knee or any of that other completely apolitical stuff.
