Yes he was superb yesterday, good to see him barking out the orders, a real captain's display.

Along with Konsa he is 2 years in to his deal now. I’d like to be seeing a nee contract signed to protect our investment and keep stability.

Yep. Fully expecting Mings & Konsa to be Villa's and England's preferred centre back pairing for several years.

When I see opponents lining up to cross when we're behind the ball, I honestly don't feel any fear of threat any more. They're just falling into our trap and it's phase one of our counter, such is the utter dominance of not just Mings and Targett, but the full backs too.

And then you've got him in goal.

Its become part of my match day ritual to see how often you can hear Tyrone shouting out the orders, the thanks to others, the general leadership he shows on the pitch. He's becoming the player we suspected we had but he maybe wasn't showing consistently. I've always loved good centre backs during my Villa supporting life and he's becoming one of my faves with McGrath and Laursen.

McGrath didn’t mind putting the ball into row z when required and thankfully Mings has clearly been told to stop twatting about about with it and do the same when needed. Playing superbly at the moment.

Best he’s played since he joined, taking account the quality of opposition

If he's not a cert for the England team on this form then he's being done a mis-service. Both he and Konsa should at the very least be in the squad, with their understanding at club level being a very strong argument for them becoming the regular England centre back pairing going into the Euro's.

It's the one huge factor in our improvement from last season that, even though our attacking play has become somewhat lukewarm, we're still turning out excellent defensive performances.  It's a credit to Smith, as his Brentford and Walsall teams were always famed for conceding loads of chances and subsequently goals.

I never go overboard over Tyrone. He’s always one step forward one back.   But is in great form the past few games

Him and Konsa cost £35m ish. What are they worth now? £100m? upwards? Speculate to accumulate.

Throw Emi, Targett and Cash's fees into the mix and you're still talking only just over the cost of one Harry Maguire...!

He’s been excellent lately. It’s like his focus has returned.
