Still has it all to prove in the top division for me, starting with this evening.

Just needs to focus on doing the simple things well. Get the ball and roll it into midfield or in front of Watkins/Davis, that's it. Working on his heading technique, given his size he should be dominating at set piece time.

In both boxes!!! He really should be scoring more

Tyrone Mings scored his first goal of the campaign in the win over Fulham, hitting the back of the net with one of two shots. In addition, Mings made 12 clearances as he came away from the clash with a WhoScored rating of 8.21.

Solid start by Mings this season.
He was also selected in BBC Garth Crooks team of the week as well as whoscored team of the week.

Deserved.

Clean sheets, wasn't his fault that his predecessor in the position is a twat. Should start the next game ahead of the inept Maguire.

If anyone comes up with our money back then I’d drive him to his new team personally. At this level he’s a walking liability. Always trying to over play, gets caught out and his positional sense leaves a lot to be desired.

Clearly I’ve not read this thread for a while, is this still the current view?

What was the point of dragging that post up?

Because I was surprised when I read it tonight.  There was lots of criticism of Tyrone at that time. Jesus, it was only three months ago.

I guess it illustrates the “its a funny ol’ game” quote more than anything.

On a night when commentators were bemoaning the lack of left-footers in England's defence, it's amazing that Mings was not a starter. Had he been, maybe McGuire wouldn't have done and therefore wouldn't have been sent off.

Yes. Horseface tried Dier on the wrong side in the Copenhagen game, didn't he?

I think it's fair to say that by now he's been nailed as a tw*t for not picking the most talented English player, but his near total incompetence is summed up by picking players out of position (when there's no need), picking players who are out of form and not picking players who are bang in form.

I used to wonder, while waiting for Bruce to get the boot two years ago whether Southgate might ever manage Villa. Recent events have drawn me to this conclusion -I f*cking well hope not!!!

All England managers seem to end up doing the same thing...picking the same players regardless of form and fitness. It always ends up the same.

Whoever gets it treats it like a middling club job, in that you get rid of the players you don't fancy from the last regime, get in your own squad of players and play them regardless of whether or not when push comes to shove they can display the requisite levels of skill and attitude, make one player double-undroppable by awarding them the captaincy, and no matter what plainly doesn't work you don't ever give mind to the possibility that the problem with it might actually be you. It's a blueprint traceable all the way back to the one time it worked when Ramsey decided he didn't need English football's greatest ever goalscorer.

International managers do it all the time, not just here.

Look at the last 3 world cup winners - all were knocked out in the Group Stages

Could Smith or Terry finally try and impress on this guy, you are nowhere near as good as you think you are. Stick to the basics, not backheels and running up into midfield. Bamford made an absolute mug of him tonight. England international, fuck me

That last goal was an absolute embarrassment for him.  He should be made to watch that on a half hour loop on Monday.
