I think he's similar to Jack in that he gets worn down by the cavalcade of shit around him.  For the first ten minutes against Southampton, when our midfield hadn't touched the ball, he got his head or boot onto everything.  With 30 shots a game coming in, there's only so long you can withstand that by yourself.

Needs to really step up and lead the defence. It's now we will see what he is really about.

The others around him need to concentrate more and step up to the mark.

Interesting interview with him on Villa TV about the final. The one thing I did pick up was that he said we need to defend higher up the pitch and not leave it to the defenders. It's what we see week after week, maybe big Ty is getting a bit pissed with some of the effort by the midfield.

Our pressing from the front as a team is really quite rubbish. Which is a bit odd as I though it was one of the first things that Smith implemented when he took over last year. Obviously hasn’t been able to sort it out this year for a variety of reasons and it’s one of the biggest things that is killing us defensively in my opinion.

We don't do it with consistency. We tend to press the first ball, but if we recycle it quickly, we don't re-set.

I felt on Saturday we were doing this. Meeting their midfield, which out numbered our own, the ball would run loose or we would give it away and on the 2and phase, we would be disorganised. Midfielders out of position, shape ragged and far too loose as a consequence.

I think it’s mostly to do with our shape and, in particular, the fact that the team is so far apart with and without the ball. We are almost playing like a team that is better than ourselves, if that makes sense, we are just not quite good enough to make it work. Hence why we get a good performance (or good half/60 mins) here and there but then better/more organised opposition often prevail overall as we can’t quite knit it all together. Between them the players and staff haven’t been able to find a way to make it work successfully.

One man defence v Leicester .
It's a shame he's having to do everything and if Guilbert had nt been so reckless he would have not had to be so frankly desperate to stop a goal and concede a penalty
Btw I think that was his shoulder and no penalty but VAR didn't want to over rule.
He cleverly played it off his shoulder yet because his arm moved it's a penalty ?
Bull shit.
Mings deserves some credit for his efforts v Leicester but he should not have to be covering everyone's asses all the time
(Excuse the language tonight )

Sorry, I disagree.  Tyrone was just as much a part of the omnishambles as the rest of them.  He was very poor. I like the guy, but he was crap tonight.

Mings was a car crash tonight, following up from the last league game where he was also horrendous. Zero understanding with Reina. His form has collapsed.
