I'd be tempted to give Hause a run at left back.  He looked good there last year, and he can't possibly be as shit as either Targett or Taylor.  That position has been an absolute graveyard for us over the last ten years or so.

10 years? I would argue Charles and Delaney were the last two consistently decent ones there but they were both injury prone.

They were right backs though. Bouma was our last decent left back.

Yep, and he was the first decent one for some time as well.

I think a few of our players, Mings included need a break, looks like he's going to get one.

and that's after a run of games that anyone in the bottom half would dread.

If that proves to be true it may not necessarily be the worst thing in the world. His composure and calmness which in principle is a huge strength has morphed into over-confidence and slackness which has been killing us in recent weeks.

We have reasonable strength in depth at centre half (if Hause is still in the manager's thinking) so we may not be as badly served by Tyrone's absence as we might think.

Hoping so anyway!

The way we have conceded goals lately and in no small part to Mings casualness on the ball, you could argue that he needed to be dropped.

It was almost guaranteed that he would make one huge fuck up per game, either caught in possession or an awful stray pass. Maybe the injury was coming for a while and hindered his game.

Either way the rest may do him good. Almost the same could be said about SJM needing a break also

If he’s back for Burnley then he should be our skipper for me.
I love Jack but I’m sorry I don’t think he’s a natural leader.
Jack getting frustrated isn’t helping things and he needs to concentrate on his game.
Bit like Ian Botham in the ‘81 Ashes!

Need him back asap. The defence is a absolute shambles without him. I think the best partnership is mings and engels at cb.

Hause has been good think he should be put at lb

Captain in football is wholly different. It's really just a token gesture. In cricket the captain is expected to make all the decisions including team selection.

I don't think Mings needs the captaincy to be a natural leader.

Him being out has shown us up defensively, I'm sure we'll be far better when he's back in.

I hope so, but the stats don't really back up that we're far better with him in the team.  With Mings playing we've conceded 1.75 goals a game, without him it's 2 goals a game.
