I was just wondering when was the last christmas Tyrone would have played all the fixtures. I can't imagine he would have played often for Bournemouth at this time of year. Obvs he's injured, but I hope he doesn't turn into a Ron Vlaar type who used to enjoy having Christmas off.

Him being out has shown us up defensively, I'm sure we'll be far better when he's back in.

I hope so, but the stats don't really back up that we're far better with him in the team.  With Mings playing we've conceded 1.75 goals a game, without him it's 2 goals a game.

With him in the side we've played Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and the others.  Without him in the side we've played Sheff Utd, Southampton, Norwich and Watford.  The fact our average-goals-against has gone UP against those team speaks volumes.

Even given his propensity to make the odd howler, we're still a better defensive unit with him in the side.

Saved me a job. Given that we're 1/4 goal better a game, and it's against the better sides shows his worth.

Yes he makes the odd howler but generally his possession, calmness and ability to make a last-ditch challenge have been sorely missed.

The biggest miss is his leadership I think.

I’d be quite tempted to try a formation with 3 centre backs giving him a bit of licence to drive forward.

We’ve missed this guy so much. Jack will rightly get most of the plaudits for that half but I think Mings does what jack does for us higher up the pitch in defence, just galvanises everyone around him.

The rock is back. He sows this team together. Excellent performance returning from injury today.
