He loves the club and we love him - this is great news and I'm delighted.

I don’t give a fuck about the cost, it ain’t my money.

All I know is we are about to sign a quality centre half who was a driving force behind us getting promoted and has developed a true affinity with the club, his teammates and the fans.

And we know EXACTLY what we are getting.
No huge money gambles like Hogan or McCormack, but someone who has proved his worth to us.

Welcome back big man.

I care because the rumours were that they decided he was worth £25m and we needed to say bollocks to that if we don't want to be fucked every time we buy someone

Sometimes the value outweighs the price.
Where would be right now if he hadn’t joined in January or been as immense as he has?
Looking forward to playing Luton and the fucking Rags, that’s where.

Some other player being massively overpriced doesn't make Mings a bargain. Football transfers are a false economy and values are plucked out of thin air sometimes. He's a very good player and I'll be delighted if he signs and will be hoping he stays fit and uninjured.

Here's hoping the positive acquisitions continue over the next two weeks or so.

It's not a false economy, it's the economy in which we operate, and there are very finite resources in terms of players, and almost unlimited resources in terms of buyers' funds.

We've seen that he's a very good player indeed.  It was "only" in the Championship, but Mings' attributes of speed, strength, awareness, timing and skill on the ball aren't going to desert him overnight.  Several of the current England defensive squad, eg Maguire, Trippier, Tarkowski, Keane etc, have all done time in the Championship, and have shown that it's more than possible to then go on and excel in the Premier League.  Injuries aside, I can't see why Mings won't be at least as good as any of them.

Prediction: In 12 months time, we'll have finished in the top 10 of the Premier League, and Mings will be in the squad for the European Championships.  £50 to Acorns if I'm wrong on either point.

I think you will be wrong. But not far wrong.

Bargain. Our owners are very rich, and Mings is excellent. Welcome back, Tyrone.

I agree, but, if you look at as an outsider we'd be paying £25m for a player who was valued at £6-7m in January on the back of 18 appearances. Yes they were very good and made a difference in our season as part of a push to promotion but it's still effectively us agreeing to pay and extra £1m per game and I'm far from convinced that leads to a reputation that helps us.

A quick look on Twitter regarding Mings, and there are an awful lot of absolute c u next Tuesday's from other clubs that seem to know an awful lot about Villa.

Sad, sad people. Concentrate on your own fucking clubs. Leicester fans? Wolves fans? The world gets madder by the day. Arrogant, offensive, know it all fuckers!

I always think about it as a compliment. In the same way - though I hate to admit it - that me bitching about Liverpool is a compliment to them.

All they know is that he had injuries, didn’t play games for Bournemouth and he stamped on Ibrahimovic. They didn’t see the player we saw.

And this is my point, just like Mitrovic seemed like a big expense for Fulham, Mings looks like a huge amount of money for us to spend, if I were the club I'd be making sure it was well known (in the most subtle way possible) that the fee was a lot less than their asking price.

Don't worry about the cost. Most on here just have jobs, Plumbers sparkys white collar civil servants etc. The owners are mega rich, the coaching staff seem to know what they are doing.

So who do I trust, us fans or the guys running the club.  For the first time in a very long time I can say I trust the  guys running the club. If they say he's worth £20m, that's fine by me.

How much will the Villa charge for us to walk around him and admire him close up.  He's awesome

Its really one of those isn't it.  If we get a full season, he performs to the levels we saw last year and carries on being the talisman we had then its a steal.  If he goes down with a blown up knee after 5 games not to be seen again everyone will be laughing at us saying we've been had.  I seem to recall an ageing Irishman being too injury prone to be taking a chance on and he barely missed a game in the next 3 years.

His pre-loan value is irrelevant as he performed way above his valuation - unless of course you're a shite judge of a footballer.
