Tyrone Mings is travelling to Birmingham tonight after #avfc agreed a £20m fee with #afcb. Huge coup for Dean Smith and Villa chief executive Christian Purslow

Mings represents more than just a player joining the club. He represents an attitude, a spirit, and rallying cry to the fans. He doesn't have to be the best player ever. But he lifts those around him and we all know he will never, ever let us down, and he fears no man. This is a massive lift to the everyone even if in a way we all knew at some point it would happen.

Happy he's back. Inspirational in the run in and our best CB in the air since Laursen imo.

Now the test will be who we sign to partner him.

Not sure why it’s a “huge coup”, but great news nonetheless.

Announced tomorrow I reckon. So another centre back and goalkeeper and that's us done on the defensive side of things. A centre mid, a wide man and maybe another forward and I think we'll stop there.

I’d like to get in Cahill and another young CB. That’s a solid group for the coming season. Then on to a ST, two wingers, a couple of midfielders and a keeper.

Yes agree, he's a leader, a classy beast of a defender and he gets us. £20M will probably seem "McGinn-ish" in a couple of years all being well.

Maybe this can be addressed at your next life coaching session.

Are you and coolerking a life coaching twofer? There’s a thought to curdle the blood ;-)

£20m fee agreed according to Greg (I'm not adding the extra G, it's ridiculous) Evans and Tom Ross on Twitter.

God bless you sir. Two G Gregs are a scourge on society. Not even a real fucking name is it.

Good news on Mings. In an entirely abstract and meaningless way it feels like vaguely the right price, factoring in the insanity of football economics.

He cleared out his locker at Bournemouth's training ground this morning. Glad it's all done and he can get back to BH and keep improving as a defender. The fee is a reflection of that work by our coaches and Tyrone's great mentality, obviously.

20m seems high but what was his loan worth to us? Not sure we'd have been near the playoffs without him, so let's get it done, get Cahill in too and move on to the next one.
