You can thanks those cnuts in Manchester for as usual inflating the market.  £50m for Basasaka is ridiculous.  Everyone else is now saying we will have a bit of that.

Maybe some of the clubs are looking at us paying 30m for McCormack, Kodjia and Hogan over a six month period nearly 3 years ago.

If you're looking at a club who pretty much inflated fees between championship clubs overnight that would be us.

We should be looking to europe much more for signings. I know before people mention it didn't work out in summer 2015 but we were a total mess of a club at that stage and also lost our three best players. Totally different case this summer.

I guess clubs are just looking at us with rich owners and also getting 100m + for being promoted and adjusting their asking prices. Seems Southampton are signing Bowen for 12m and they signed Che Adams for similar amount so that puts things into perspective for two of the best Championship attacking players outside top 6 last season.

£25M for a defender of Mings' quality doesn't seem that outlandish to me.  Not when Maguire is valued at c. £90M.
I guess the answer is, let’s see if any other club offers that as we have the option to match it.
I don’t see why Villa will pay £25 mil when they can probably get him for less.

If we can get him for less than £25M then we should.  If we can't we should get him anyway.

£25m for an historically injury-prone backup defender they supposedly don't want. I don't care how inflated the market is, I'd laugh them off the court at that and offer them the ghost of Micah Richards and a graphic designer so they can replace their shite 'crest' with something that doesn't look it came from the Soviet Union in the '80s.

Jumped up gits.

Basically agree with this. In cold hard terms it’s a hell of a lot of money when you factor in the fact he’s not that young, has very little track record and has spent a lot of time injured. Maybe that’s the market in which case so be it. But the fact that we are a mutual love in should be a reason for getting a good deal, not having our pants pulled down. I have this niggly feeling Bournemouth are playing this a bit cynically.

£20m fee agreed according to Greg (I'm not adding the extra G, it's ridiculous) Evans and Tom Ross on Twitter.

In today's market, from what we've seen of him, that doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Stupid money for a 26 year old that still hasn't played 100 league games but that's what the transfer market is these days, fucking stupid.

Having said that i'll be really pleased he's back.

That's standard price for premier league players. Wolves bought can't cross, can't score, Adama Traore for £18 million last year and I know who I would rather have for that price. Is £80 million Maguire 4 times a better player? Nope.

£20 million seems a reasonable compromise, especially if some of it is conditional.

I can't wait to see him back in claret and blue.

Sorry, just remembered last season's "Villa" kit.

I can't wait to see him in claret and blue for the first time.
