He's here with me having a beer.

Oh christ, no chance of him passing a medical then!

Fear not, I gave him Super Bock instead of Sagres. Nobody can do more than two Super Bocks. Horrible stuff.

Mings in Portugal and not with Bournemouth on first day of training. Allegedly talking to Villa reps.

Isn't Dean Smith currently on holiday in the Algarve?

Mings is certainly in Portugal as per his Instagram story today. Be interested to know where TV's Villa reps bit has come from though.

I think Smith and Terry are still there. They were pictured 3 days ago talking to Slippy Gee.

My Instagram detective skills can confirm that Terry is definitely still there, posted "Pool Day" with a Portuguese flag 15 mins ago.

Would assume he's been given extra time off as his season finished two weeks later than the Bournemouth squad.

I think this will speed up once pre season properly starts.

He can tattoo his signature on to the piece of paper thrust under his nose.

There was a report yesterday that Nathan Ake was going to be sold for £40m so don't know if that's a problem if that pans out.

I genuinely thought this was to be the easiest and quickest signing we have ever made - it just seemed so obvious

We love him
He loves us
Bournemouth were not interested in him

really cannot see what the delay is

The matching bit obviously meant that Bournemouth were hoping other clubs put in bids for him and drove up the price we would have to match. I’m pretty sure Mings and his agent would have met/spoken with Smith/Purslow before the holidays so and will have signalled their intentions to Bournemouth about the desire to join Villa. Bournemouth won’t be in any rush on this one at all as they will want to firm up their own plans before selling Mings to us. It will happen eventually.

I think the longer it is drawn out Bournemouth will hope that we offer them a couple of extra millions just to get him here for pre-season.
