Big wicket that, excellent catch from Bethell. Fingers crossed for another one before lunch and this will be a very good session for a morning at the oval.

Slightly frustrating that we've hit them on the legs so many times with ones that are just drifting down leg or slightly over the top. Given the inexperienced attack though I think it's good that we're beating the bat regularly.

Archer’s 8 overs at the death was extremely hostile and deserved a couple of wickets. The Kiwi batsman Glenn Phillips was continually hit and he must have a few bruises today.

I thought the score flattered us somewhat, the two wickets for Bethell swung the day in our favour. The new ball is due soon and that could be decisive. An interesting day ahead.

That drop by Duckett is unforgivable, no international cricketer can justify not taking that.

Eight overs with the new ball and Bethell is bowling but Archer is nowhere near the attack. Maybe he’s feeling the effects of his stint last night when he bowled with real hostility.

This is the worst new ball performance for a while; I’m prepared to cut our inexperienced attack some slack but right now it looks to me that we need some orthodox cricket and not wayward Bazzball tactics. It’s been a chaotic first hour.

I hope you are able to go but this chaotic England side look like a side who don’t play 5 day test matches.

That's a shocking run out.

Indeed and the result of scoreboard pressure, Gay hadn’t scored a run since the restart after lunch.
