Archer has looked way more competent with the bat than most of the top order batsmen, in fairness.
Our man of the series, so far.
He has so much quality and character. I’ve found the questions around his character and attitude to have an unpleasant undertone, particularly from middle aged white Australians. The stuff from Harris about needing to take his gold chains was disgraceful.

Even the most cursory glance at Archer’s story shows he has so much resilience and character.
Come on, that's nonsense. Why bring race into it and throw in a generalisation to boot? He was rightly criticised after the last test because he bowled his most hostile and best spell when the game was done and England were consigned to defeat.
Sadly, I don't think we'll ever really see him feature regularly.in test cricket. Not his fault, like others such as Mark Wood, his body just can't handle it. As a result, they are put in a tough situation where they hardly play any longer format cricket because they can't handle it and then are just thrown straight into the intensity of test cricket. Now he's played in an away Ashes series, I wouldn't blame him if he turned his back on test cricket and joined the global T20 circuit where he'd probably only have to bowl 2 x two over spells in most games. I.dont know him though and he might want to play as much test cricket as he can, and potentially have a crack at winning an Ashes series when the Aussies come here in a couple of years.
