Brilliant from Root

Poor shot to get out from Jacks

Hell of a catch from Carey to get Atkinson

300 would be a good effort from here

Not sure why so many batsmen just dangle the bat out at wide deliveries.

Brilliant from Joe, but fucking pathetic from some of the others. Root is there, just try and stay there for him.

Brook is thick. He's a modern day whack and blast merchant. Has no idea about match situations.

Obviously you don’t know until both teams have batted. But we look light and we’ve gifted too many wickets. Players need to take more responsibility, if you’re with Root at least play with some brains.

Least we’ve got over 300, so you’re in the game with that.

Delighted for Root.

This is a decent last wicket partnership.

Good work from this last pair, once the Aussies started gamesmanship to delay so they didn’t get to bat tonight so we’ll have the 40+ runs.  Carey didn’t exactly try for that one stepping catch….

Get to the close and at least make them come out to field tomorrow even it’s just for a ball

As I said earlier, playing under the lights has an impact so 300+ is a decent return. We won't know for sure until they bat though.

After the first test and with a couple of really poor wickets down I think this is at least competitive and Root getting a big ton is a massive positive.

How many overs should be bowled in a day nowadays? 74 seems way short

Fuck it, that's a bad wicket to lose.
Stokes messed that up big time. Good job Root sent him back otherwise he was gone.

The bloke in the villa top down the front is getting plenty of camera time!

That partnership at the end has made a big difference I think. The fact they’re not out is good as well. We need to do all we can to keep them out there for as long as possible tomorrow morning.

Competitive total that. Lower than it should be, but still gives a good platform. There were some suggestions about declaring but we need to bat as long as we can, especially batting as they were at the end of the day.

We just need to try and stay out there as long as possible in the morning - a. get more runs, b. limit the time we’re bowling in the most batsman friendly conditions, and c. put more miles in the Aussie bowlers legs. It’s tough with one wicket, but if we can stay out for say an hour that would be big.
