Woakes is really fired up this morning, he could easily have three wickets. There were some very fine margins on those two umpire’s calls.

When there is no shot played there should be no such thing as umpire's call on the review.

Maybe, but that's still valuable, stopping the tail wagging was a big part of why we won the last test.

Agreed, that's a big part of why I didn't like the 2nd review, the batsman was 100% beaten by the delivery has been saved because the umpire was far too lenient with him. I like the idea of umpire's call but that specific one felt wrong and now it has let them cash in when thy really should be at least 2 down.

The whole attack just feels so unthreatening. Its clearly a brilliant day for batting but you'd think an international bowling attack would offer a bit more than this

Thought our limited attack toiled hard in very very flat conditions. Did about as well as they could. Desperately need Wood, Archer and Atkinson fit to be able to rotate.

I get the feeling that the decision to bowl first today was mostly a "fuck you" to the critics of the decision at Headingley. At least that had the logic of recenct results and a pitch that stays true if not gets better (still disagreed with it though and if India had held half their catches they would have won).

Today though was even more of a batting day than the 1st in Leeds. I suspect England may still go on to win the game but that wouldn't necessarily make it the correct decision.

but... another umpire and Woakes is 3/10 after his first spell and the entire game is changed. We were very unlucky not to get either of those reviewed decisions go our way, the 2nd one in particular was difficult to see how he didn't give it on the field.

Woakes was easily the pick of the bowlers today and was unlucky not to have more wickets, we need to bowl them out quickly tomorrow.
