Would be quite poetic if we beat the Aussies in either a semi or a final after they didn't take the chance to make sure we were eliminated from the tournament!

Even better England top group, India beat Aus, Afghanistan beat Bangladesh and the Aussies get to watch us play Afghanistan in the semi from their plane home

Fair play to Jos Butler.  Absolutely brilliant today.

England can look sensational and the bowling attack looks much more balanced with Topley. I think the biggest issue is one of the top 4 has to get a big score to chase down/post a decent total. It feels a bit flimsy after that, there’s talent in 5,6,7 but I wouldn’t be confident in any of them getting significant runs.

I think it’s always been like that, we rely on one of the big guns to make serious runs. When they all fail, we lose.

Stokes retirement from the format is massive in that regard.

This for me. Also agree about Stokes' absence. Checking Friday flights to BBDS in case Thursday goes well.

Yeah, if Afghanistan can win tonight then promptly get knocked out in the semis before getting banned from international cricket as they should have been three years ago, that would be ideal.

Always good to spend the first hour after getting up to witness Australian humiliation.

Watched the last hour of the match, brilliant win for Afghsnistan in a very close game. Lovely to see those Aussies departing.

Great result, Aussies going home and Afghans marching on.
