When you listen to the cricket coverage especially from ex players you realise what a bunch of muppets the football pundits are

Brilliant delivery to get him, many a top order batsman would be done by that.

Poor captaincy from Gill, he left Bumrah out of the attack for far too long and as a result they have allowed England back into the game.

I know it’s his first test as captain but when you’ve got the number one ranked test bowler in your side, give him the ball! As soon as was given the ball, he bowled a testing over and got Woakes.

If India go on and lose this test it will have been lost in this afternoon session today.

Finely poised at close. Still England's day despite frustration at not picking up more wickets. Could be a draw looking at the weather on Tuesday and the mostly toothless bowling attacks so far.

Poor from the bowlers and Stokes at the moment.

Stoke has been abysmal this morning and so far today. What's happened to all round Bazball approach?

It's not a Gill decision, more of their management of Bumrah. He's likely to break down if over bowled.

I know there are injuries, but this bowling attack is so utterly unthreatening.

Woakes averages 22 in this country (well did before this test!) - him bowling at that level would make a huge difference.

Idon't think he's fully fit, when he was batting yesterday they had the physio looking at him for a while for what looked like a problem with his side/ribs.

This has to be the end of the Bashir experiment. He just isn't currently remotely test match standard. He may improve with a couple of years of solid FC cricket but there is no way he should be in the team against the likes of India or Australia in the winter.

Chastening day this. I hope England clock that in a 5 match series trying to guts out a draw is very valuable and entirely doable on this pitch.
