These two need just 3 runs to equal the highest test partnership for England and 41 more runs to achieve the highest fourth wicket stand in test history.

Records are nice to have but they eventually get broken, however I’d love to see Root get a triple century. That would be a remarkable achievement in these conditions.

In the conditions yes, they look brutal and sweltering. The pitch though, to be fair, is a runway.

Brook is catching Root up, what are the chances of them both getting triple centuries?

If Smith bats like we know Smith can bat then we could be 300 ahead by tea.

Haha

Not sure I envy Smith if he has been padded up for that little partnership

300 for Harry Brook, only the 6th England test player to reach that milestone

What is remarkable is that Brook and Smith have added 74 in no time at all

Amazing stuff. I mean there are lots of flat pitches but this doesn't happen all the time.

If Saim bowls 4/5 more overs it could end up with 6 bowlers going for 100+

Brilliant innings, i bet he is hoping for a couple of hours rest before taking to the field again.

In over 2,500 test matches this is only the 4th time a test side scored more than 800 runs in a single innings.
