According to Bruce... 'we were slow and pedantic, and painful at times'.

No shit Stevie! So what the feck are YOU going to do about it?

The same that he has done for the last 2 seasons

Just listened to the post match ..... we had no zip didn’t move the ball quickly enough how many times have we heard that this season? Why not work on it then Steve coach them make them work hard?

Oh yes but don’t forget we played our best game last week ..... we drew at home to Brentford Steve we didn’t win 4-0

He is like a hypnotist if we keeps saying it he hopes we will believe in it

Surely he means 'pedestrian' not 'pedantic'. So clueless he's even playing words out of position.

Well, we had no ‘zip’ and didn’t move the ball quickly on Saturday.
Between then and tonight he has done precisely fuck all to fix it.

He is having to come out with his usual post match bollox far too often.

I think he needs to go for his own sanity as well as ours.

Well and truly under the bus....

Steve Bruce: Aston Villa showing made me feel 'physically sick'

Matt MaherLess than an hour ago
Liam Boyce's goal saw the League One Brewers through to the third round and a first ever competitive victory over Villa, for whom Albert Adomah missed a late penalty.

Bruce, visibly fuming, accused his much-changed team of treating the game "like a testimonial" and admitted several fringe players had blown their chance to impress.

"Sometimes you get a beat in a cup tie when it does not go your way," he said.

"But when you go about it like it is a testimonial or a friendly game then it upsets me to the hilt. Actually, it makes me feel physically sick.

"At this moment I have to take the rap, come and face the media. Ultimately it is my team.

"But it will be a shadow of the team which plays on Saturday (at Sheffield United). I would have thought the people who have been knocking down my door in recent weeks would have made a better fist of it than what I have just witnessed tonight."

Adomah saw an 89th minute penalty saved by Burton's debutant goalkeeper Harry Campbell, before hitting the rebound over the bar.

Villa's players were booed off by a large travelling support, who also directed their anger at Bruce.

He said: "The fans are entitled to criticise me. I have broad shoulders. I am the boss of that tonight.

"It is safe to say that was nowhere near good enough or acceptable. When you get knocked out of the cup, sometimes you can be unlucky.

"We didn't do anything at all. It has given me food for thought, for those people who keep knocking on my door, insisting they should be in the team.

"They have let me down, themselves and the supporters.

"We got what we deserved, which is absolutely nothing."

Winger Andre Green is, meanwhile, poised to join League One Portsmouth on loan until January.

Disgusting, pathetic, shameful. Unwilling to move to fewer than four at the back when one down to a Third Division team who have spent most of their existence wondering how teams like Tamworth and Nuneaton are getting on.

I have been willing to give him every chance, but that's unforgiveable.

Bruce out.

Ha ha, thanks for that CB.

ps And your own correct example o' pedantry was certainly appreciated too. ;)

What makes it so bad is that many of us would have predicted this -maybe not the result, but certainly the performance.

v
His moaning about the number of games and his team selection make it obvious he doesn’t give a shit about this competition. Pretty sure his team talks were half arsed too. This attitude will of course be reflected in the teams performance. They would have been better off allowing the assistant manager to take sole charge of the cup games. Give Bruce a nice break and time to focus on the league 🤦‍♂️
Is there any other manager as blasé about cup games as Bruce? There is a break after Saturday anyway so why rest players? No other team who played tonight seemed to play as many second stringers as Villa. From what I gather about the penalty it could have looked as though Adomah intended to miss it! Steve probably congratulated him.

Taylor , Hourihane, Elphick are 3 who think they should be in team.

RDL and Lansbury will be ones too not getting any game times.

It's hard as how much incentive is there as Bruce won't play them anyway I imagine and maybe the players think that .
Seems not able to motivate this bunch and it's far too sad to hear his comments which he is ultimately responsible for team.
I think some may respect him but didn't take him serious as it's sounding that it's another lethargic performance.

Before to resolve such an issue he wants to have younger, pacey players .
I can imainge Bruce has peeved off players and they go through the motions .

How was the play of Taylor and Elphick ?
Kept out of first team by players who aren't left back and centre backs ?

Also it's typical Bruce comment but having seen or heard nothing and recently seeing score this is disappointing but was anyone ever going to make 1st team unless they scored a hat trick.

Any positives ?
How was El Ghazi

Well played to all the supporters who went

And Bruce better get a game out of the ones he picks away to sheff utd.

Shite.

We have no chance of success with Bruce. He is done.

He should have been shown the door after the Wembley  debacle

He said similar things after the Yeovil game in the last round, but then fields another team with a lot of changes again.  What did he expect?

Nice guy or not, with more cowardly self righteous drivel like that I could really get to hate him.

Was lack of money (and continuity) the reason he was kept on because in all honesty I with you on that he needed to leave after fail promotion

He needed to go and a respectful 'thank you and you tried , but not for us anymore.
Goodbye ' was needed

Several many of us people here ,and I  don't think any are fortune tellers or speaking with hindsight have said it's just going to be more of the same from Bruce.

Taking such shoddy matches and then the Bruce interview comments just to me is aggravating be hearing his reasoning.  so I can't help think what others who saw this and are regulars live watchers think.

That said those who watch from afar can even see far more clearly than Bruce and his ways.

I fear it's another season of him but hoping the attacking players will bring some encouragement and entertaining ways .

Sounds tonight was the opposite
