Think he's finally surpassed Ian Taylor as my favourite Villain. Would be great to cap it with a trophy.

I love SJM, but if he's travelling with our away support 20+ years after he leaves us, fair fucks to him!

(And that's not to disagree with your point; I think he's my favourite Villa player as well.)

He’s been our best signing in modern time by a mile if you compare his cost vs his output, and was fantastic last night.  He’ll be really hard to replace when his engine goes a bit and I hope that’s not for a good while yet.

I agree 💯. This lad will be remembered for a long time and embedded in the fabric of Aston Villa.  What a bargain.

Already assured of legend status. Just imagine if he lifts the FA Cup as well.

I hope he retires with us, or leaves for Celtic/St. Mirren, before the decline sets in, legacy untarnished with us.

I’ve just read the first few pages of this thread, how little we knew but the comments from Hibs fans were a pointer of things to come.

SJM (and Konsa) makes the CL team of the week. https://x.com/ChampionsLeague/status/1912883758820212831

Always knew he would when we signed from Hibs. ;)

Loved him until the Championship, but thought his touch would let him down in the premiership.

He proved he could way more than cope at that level, but to be the best player on the pitch against arguably the best team in the world shows what you can do with effort, dedication and of course no little skill.

There’s no room for sentimentality in top level sport, but I feel certain Mings and Ollie would have stepped up in the same way.  I can see what Torres and Rashford have to offer, but give me the central axis of Mings, McGinn and Watkins every game.

But Dembele was man of the match so why wasn't he there?

Reminds me of the Scottish players from the seventies and eighties, who give thier all when they were playing and you could rely on,as I said before I expected him to be moved on when Emery came in but credit to him he has learnt a lot under Emery

I said the same thing to my dad that day even though he had passed away a few years earlier.

Revealing that Donnarumma is in goal too. And Olise in the team who we should have signed off Reading and could have made a tidy profit on him.

Not sure it would be St Mirren because of the way he left there - not necessarily his fault though.
