All I'm saying is that I cut him more slack because no one tries harder for us than he does. He's fucked-up and I'm sure when he's next interviewed, he'll admit that and look to make amends.

Yep, I’m sure you’re right eamonn, he’s going to be certainly gutted with his reaction as he certainly cares. I’m sure that’s what got the better of him, he saw red and lost all control of his emotions.

He got the red card because he cares so much and gets frustrated when he's doing it on his own. Hew as visibly frustrated with some of his teammates . Thirty seconds before that  he chased down a lost cause which turned into a goal scoring opportunity.

As for him getting applauded off "by a few" - literally the whole Holte End sang his name after  he made the challenge - it was the loudest we were all game. It's a passionate game and it's part of the McGinn package - yes it was daft and reckless but that red mist descends sometimes and it's part of what makes him tick.

I certainly thought it was fucking stupid and reckless. But you see infringements like that where the player doesn’t go flying and a yellow is given. I can see why it was given. I just don’t think it merited a straight red when you see how much other stuff goes unpunished or only given as yellows.

Was a red card.  Won't be appealed.  Poor from SJM when he's been having a great season otherwise.

It's probably an orange. McGinn wanted to make a mark on someone and it's a terrible tackle nowhere near the ball. But a red seemed a bit harsh. Anyway it won't be overturned and now we are proper f*cked in midfield. Iroegbunam is nowhere near the required level and I dread the thought of that work shy dosser Tielemans playing in a midfield two.

I thought it was a yellow card, myself. It was reckless, and a clear foul, but giving a red card for that was poor by the referee.

He was also pretty much the only player in our team showing any urgency at this point.

I haven't seen it again since, and the only replay I caught was from in front, but at the time I thought that if the ref had shown him a yellow card, the VAR wouldn't have sent him to the monitor.
