Super John McGinn! Absolutely bossed it today.
3 goals in 6 league games this season.
Stepped up another level.

I think McGinn has played more then 6 league games this season.

(I know, you meant to put home).

For the type of player he is, I honestly don't believe there's a level above his performance today, he was that good. And just when you think you can't love him any more he tells the story of his goal celebration and the meaning behind it.

I can't remember which game it was, but he got booed to the rafters when he came off in one game. That whole period seems a long time ago now.

Crazy times for sure...think someone on here around that time called him a fat knacker

He was magnificent today.
Everything you'd want in a midfielder encapsulated into 90+ minutes.

Awesome, the heartbeat of this team.

He certainly was today but we often say the same thing about Dougie. I do wonder if SJM knowing both Dougie and Kamara were both on four yellows with Spurs away next up, he decided to take on the extra responsibility. He played like a man possessed, probably by Zidane at his best.

Absolute perfection. Best individual performance in a Villa shirt since peak Grealish maybe.

Its a great story and sums up the man. The whole McGinn at Villa story from championship to now, is fantastic. He is fast becoming one of my all time favourite villa players. McGinn lifting a trophy as pur skipper would/will be an emotional moment.

And to think he cost the equivalent of a packet of chewing gum and some pocket lint. One of the best value for money signings we have made in some time.

An incredible turnaround after that pretty long period where he was mediocre at best.

It's remarkable what world class training can do to players.

He was a fat knacker, even his team mates were joking about it on social media.

It’s hard to imagine a time when JM wasn’t a great player for us but it did happen. He’s now playing the best he has ever played for us. Yesterday he was immense.

Crooks has him in his team of the week

Quote
John McGinn (Aston Villa): Of all the Aston Villa players who have been part of their success since the arrival of Unai Emery; McGinn has probably been their most consistent.

He seldom misses a game, gives 100% every match and doesn't seem remotely interested in being in the spotlight.

I make no apology for selecting him in my team as he was the star of the show against a totally outclassed Fulham. The Scotland international scored Villa's second goal with a cracking left-footed drive and played an integral part in their third that sealed the game. McGinn - a man for all seasons.

I've missed that - what's the reason?
