Candid from SJM

I do love him. He'll know he's not exactly in peak form too, and that's fine, it happens, we should have the options to cope while he works his way back. He'll be back to his best.

I thought he was man of the match yesterday.

I thought he was man of the match yesterday.

SJM was excellent and also played a couple of lovely passes to Ollie for Douglas's goal and another for Matt Cash for the first goal, shame they don't go down as his assists as it was his passes that opened up Brighton.  Great reverse pass to Ollie for the hat-trick goal too.

He was great, back to his best. He's so much better on the right hand side, almost like a completely different player.

Very hard to pick a MOTM yesterday, as everybody was excellent. Hard to see past Ollie though.

His vision and passing is underated. He is thought of outside of B6 as a hard running, high energy workmanlike player, but he isn’t fully appreciated for some of other aspects of his game. We are lucky to have him.

He was brutal yesterday without being dirty.  Add in the high quality passing (like the one for Cash for our first goal) and you have McGinn nearly at his best.   As important as about 6 other players in our team.

He is great, so down-to earth. Nice interview.

He is very good (amongst other things) at passes that completely switch direction of play. The ball for Ollie’s third being a good example.

It's why he's better on the right - he can find more natural angles for those passes from there.

The trouble for us is that Zaniolo also only really looks comfortable on the right too, cutting in onto his left foot, so how to play both of them? Nice problem to have I suppose!

I think the answer to that conundrum is Jacob Ramsey

Absolutely. Our best 11 at the moment is:

Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne

McGinn, Kamara, Luiz, Ramsey

Diaby Watkins

Zaniolo can cover for either McGinn or Ramsey, or Diaby at a push.

That team can beat anyone. If we could field it every week we'd be in the Champions League.

Indeed, and that's without Diaby being quite at his best yet. Diaby started the season brilliantly, and Watkins was a bit subdued. Now Watkins is back to his best, Diaby has been a bit quiet the last three games. If we can get them both firing on all cylinders we're going to take some stopping.
