Cash seems like an advancing full back. Pau would be a kinda inverted full back of Emery style.
This then releases the hounds like McGinn and Doug to advance.

McGinn does need to add more goals to his game, but he’s not alone in that.

I would be overjoyed if McGinn scored 8 goals in total across all competitions, but any number of 5 or more would be welcomed and celebrated! As he's never scored more than 3! And 3 out of 4 seasons Ginny has scored 3 goals.

I'm considering it over the course of the lengthy season and amount of games he will likely play he'll get more than one!
Anything the same or less which is none! Well from his position and role in the team within reason is unacceptable.

It's expected he'll improve on his 1 goal showing of last season as that was his worse goal scoring season in the prem.

I remember him being taken off. But that is about it.

He was shoved out on the left to cover for the loss of Buendia and it didn’t work.

I wonder how much the loss of Mings affected him? It shouldn’t do as a professional but I think they’re quite close.

It didn't work whatsoever, and I think it was apparent even before kick off that Emery had got the line up all wrong. Everything that made us play so well against them at Villa Park was missing, including McGinn getting at Dan Burn at left back. Instead we had the utterly anonymous Bailey, who's completely incapable of giving defenders a hard time.

No JJ or Moreno made a difference as well. We didn’t attack their left side with any real precision. The one time we did we scored.

I could not believe how anonymous and ineffectual McGinn was on Saturday.
I thought all week how Dan Burn must be having nightmares about lining up against him - instead he got powder puff Bailey

Emery got this so wrong

Again. SJM's performance was extremely similar to the Lazio (or Valencia?) game where he hardly touched the ball. Playing him out of position once especially pre-season is easy to forgive. Repeating the mistake in the first game of the season however is as you say, 'so wrong' and done to fit Bailey in the side.

Not sure it was to was fit Bailey in, more to cover for Buendia's absence. Whatever the reason though, it was a terrible decision. It buggered up both sides completely.

I reckon that’s exactly what Emery was thinking.
