He was much better further forward when he came on yesterday. Don't think Emery will be dropping him back into a holding midfield role.

Yep. Got the ball with his back to goal a number of times and either spun the defender or got brought down.  Still think he will be more than useful if he's played in the right role.

We've just got a new manager, a 3-1 win, McGinn came on and did a job and we're here devoting loads of time to sys how shit he is? Fuck me.

Well, quite.

Under Stevie Genius the midfield was a mess.We might be having good options now.I can't see McGinn getting in front of Kamara and Luiz in the central roles.Dendoncker and (next year)Iroegbunam look to be good reserves.
Out wide or as a no 10 maybe  but we have the potential inclusion of Sanson,Coutinho and next year,Aaron Ramsey,  also the wide area looks where Emery might  easily reinforce, especially from Villareal.
His backside would be a huge miss and he has played a pivotal role in our recent history but I think he could be a bargaining chip in getting a more expensive player.

Ridiculous out of sorts first half. Can see it in his face how hard it is to concentrate to stay in his position and for a captaincy he's just not up to it.
Fouls toward end of half was yet again reckless and needless.

To be fair around 68th minutes he started to show some prominence and improving now in match but still pondering on ball a lot.
He also continues to do strange fouls

As captain needs to be offering far more.

He needs to be sold as soon as the January transfer window opens. £5m to Wigan or somewhere back in Scotland. Anywhere, I don't care. Woeful.

He was shocking tonight. So slow, like his famous arse was housed in lead underpants.

Yes, a shame to be critical of him and he’s been a superb player and influence in our climb from the shit state we were in, however he’s nowhere near good enough. Far too slow with his feet and can’t play a quick passing game.

What were you expecting to read in a John McGinn thread, after he's given another godawful display, Clamps?

He’s not good enough for where we are going. He’s a trier which is all well and good but technically dreadful.

And now. Can you see what many can see. Didn't particularly aid the cause as a starter or as captain versus Man Utd
Tielemans or Neves wins games and impacts them.
McGinns best achievement was not getting booked today.
Awful tragic and saw how lost he looked on the pitch as well as complete lack of stamina.

He's certainly not a captain
Young who is nearly 10 years old and puts him to shame and as club captain should be having armband over McGinn whenever on the pitch.

Back on the bench sunday McGinn
