I do not think he is a terrible player but he so out of form and looks like he is struggling physically.

I don't think he is terrible either, he's just not at the level we need anymore - and it shows.   He is 28 in October, so not a youngster.   If you look where he has excelled, it was for Hibs in a sub-par Scottish league, it was for us in the Championship and somewhat during our first season back in the Prem.  Since then, it has been downhill or at least no progression.

The stats back up his form.  48 passes last night, 72% accuracy.  Against Palace, 28 passes at 71%.  For comparison, Luiz, 52 passes at 94% accuracy.

Perhaps I have lower standards than other people but I can’t say that he’s been anything like as bad as has been suggested.

Luiz can be quite safe in his passing though, does irk me when he doesn't turn on the ball instead playing unnecessary 1-2s with FBs and CBs and then turning. I don't mind McGinn taking occasional risks with his passes but it's far too often from deep. His shooting from distance is terrible and lately his first touch is abysmal.

If Gerrard's going to let him play his way into form, then it has to be on the left side of Kamara. Ramsey is struggling too so it's the likely change. Sanson and Nakamba (on bench v Palace but not in squad last night?) must be finished under Gerrard.

I'm reading and hearing he's not having a great game. 68 mins gone v West Ham. Having only followed since start of second half.
Sounds like he lucky not to have been taken off as he's not driving the team.

He's off form. He needs a rest (polite way of saying dropped). I don't blame him, it happens to everyone, the issue is that the manager insists on continually playing him and not subbing him.

Poor on left of three aswell. Horrific when he switched back to right of Kamara after Luiz went off. Felt sorry for him, he never asked to be captain and is getting it in the neck instead of Gerrard.

In what way is Gerrard not getting it in the neck?!

McGinn was decent first half but his usual shit self second half. If he ever shoots at goal again he should be fined a year’s wages..

Feel sorry for him. He needs to be dropped (ironically, it seems like he might need to 'concentrate on his football'), but will SG do it?

I don't. He is a truly rubbish captain.

I agree about him being a rubbish captain (as in it shouldn't be him - a rubbish choice). But I feel sorry for him because I think he'll be the scapegoat of the current shite times we're going through. He'll be the one to get the boos on the field when they should be directed at the man on the bench. Which won't help him or the team.

Having said that, if I was at the ground I'd probably be booing him too.

The decision to make McGinn captain and the related insistence on him playing is what’s the main thing that’s going to cost him his job. Taking Doug off instead of McGinn today cost us the game.

Doug knew it was the wrong decision too. Sat there head in his hands. We lost all balance in midfield and they attacked at will down that side once McGinn moved to the right. Ramsey nor McGinn can play in this formation, neither has the discipline or awareness. Ramsey should be the spearhead of a 3 man midfield with 2 sitting deep and 2 wide forwards feeding a striker.
