I thought I was long past having a favourite player. Far too old and cynical now for that schoolboy hero worship stuff.

John McGinn is my favourite player.  I Effing love him.

This is the best signing of the Summer, Mings and Heaton joint second.

He's infectious. Imagine having to look that smiling little face in the eye after a game when you've come off the pitch and not given as much as he has. Shame, shame on you.

Brilliant news.

It's very Aston Villa having a person within the club who all the fans love and who also happens to be Scottish.

Andy Gray certainly,  Alan Evans, Alan McInally briefly, Alan Hutton...we did didn't we? especially for that goal. I'm sure Villa fans of yesteryear loved Archie Hunter.  There's probably more I know.

SJM gives his all every game and that's what we want to see from a player.  Goals, great goals, 90 minutes non stop, even running the entire length of the pitch to find a corner flag to park yourself there.  you gotta love SJM .

Not sure I could choose between Mings, McGinn and Jack to be honest.

Why would he want to leave the Champions League winners to go to Madrid?

Really good news and whilst we are discussing this, off at a tangent I'd like to wish Hibs all the best for the coming season, they sold us a good 'un.
