I've just got him up to 56% - 15% ahead now.  It's in the bag!

Suspended for Tuesday away to Norwich.  Chance for Smith to look at other players.

Quality again today.  Energy and drive with tacking and passing.

Reckon he covered at least 1km more than others.

I’d like him to play every game! On the upside though, he grafted today and more than likely did for Scotland during the break, so at least he’ll be nice and fresh for QPR on Friday night!

I thought he was brilliant today, he epitomises everything Dean Smith looks for in a player, dynamism, tackles well, passes well, always working and looking for the ball!

Yes he was colossus today, haven't seen a tenacious tackler like that at VP for a while.

Best performance in a Villa shirt so far, workrate and tenacity are a pleasure to watch. A definite "throwback" to the 70s and 80s

Superb today. Tackles in the double digits, constantly winning the ball back and setting up attacks. His workrate is fantastic - just a shame his one real shooting chance almost ended up the Upper Holte!

I wouldn't thank Steve Bruce for much, but I do for signing him.

Haven't seen anything from today but from reports it sounds like him and Thor did the 'defensive' midfield role in the way I like to see.

He was very good today just loved his tenacity   and  drive. Also uses his ass very effectively. And yes John thanks for becoming the first holder of Tonev award as no one has made it to  the Holte upper tier since he left.

The way he sort of shoves people off to make space for himself is fantastic.

McGinn uses his arse like Gareth Barry. And that is a high compliment rather than a piss take.

Magnificent, apart from that shot.Just love the way he shields the ball after winning it back and then drives forward in the next movement.
